I run mine Nov-Mar; 4 years old now, 50% tread. They are going to age out first. Rarely gets above 45F on those months. YMMV.

Agreed with your last paragraph and I can extrapolate to nominal winter conditions with the same logic you used. If you have average daily temps (high-low)/2 at freezing, you still have half of your day for ideal winter driving and only slightly compromised driving during the other half. I agree it is location person

You specifically missed “Once the average daily temperatures are over +7C,” That is 45 dergrees F!  AVERAGE DAILY TEMPS OF 45 degree F!  Thank you for playing.

You missed temps of “Spring and summer” we aren’t talking about indian summers in the middle of december. Thanks again, but no.

No.

I was surprised when I went to tire rack too and found 18" rims with extra 1" side wall, tpms,  and reasonable tires for a package of $1400. So I think you’re out ~$1500 either way. Don’t forget that you need to pay someone to take the tire off the wheel 2x a year. With a new set of rims, you can do it at home.

You can get a different wheel/rim for the snow tires with a more standard size. With your price difference, you should be able to buy less expensive rims and tires that fit. This car probably comes with low profile tires and would likely benefit from a bit more side wall for winter protection anyway. Pretty sure

This is ridiculous. Winter tires are designed to handle warm temperatures. Just not continuous use above approximately room temp. They wear a little more and get a little squishy in cool and warm temps, and they actually get a little more grip, but they certainly don’t require an immediate change when the temp gets

Agree at that temp too, but warm weather use will quickly wear down the soft compound. Where I live, clocks get reset, fire alarm batteries replaced and tires get swapped around the same time.

Didn’t know that storage in freezing weather is bad. Very good to learn!

I Just wish the experts would stop comparing the extreme tire compounds in the cold weather. Even the stubbornest Mustang driver with summer tires knows they can’t drive in the cold or will quickly learn. I want a demonstration good enough to convince those that think all season users to see the light. Even in 40

Did the weight calculations in the article include the support structures? A lot of times a “battery” is defined to be the interchangeable box with controllers and crash protection included. This adds excess weight when comparing to just the liquid gasoline energy density.

Can’t tell if the white and blue stripe car just failed to make a good run through there or the 911 really just carried the momentum through the bottom.  I suspect the latter as the 911 driver didn’t flinch once.  Butt puckering.

Thinks like a libertarian.

Most loss of life accidents involves someone to declare cause of accident. If someone didn’t weld to a certified level or some other technical fault of the track, someone can be held liable for the death. If everything checks out, “she died doing what she loved”, otherwise, “she died of negligence or a dangerous work

no. their naming sucks.  I-pace is E-lectric.

I think he is referring to the oil pipelines and distribution netowork and last mile delivery with trucks to the gas station. Yes it was also built up over time. Building the electric filling station is one cost that the user would expect but is only limited by initial capital and can in general follow the immediate
