The myth busters are not a scientific source. While your example negates the original premise, it is also not quite correct, because the windows don’t change the force the air exerts against the bee (the entrained air is to small)

I see what you are getting at, but parking a car off the shoulder is more likely and tenable than asking an emergency vehicle to use the same unpaved surfaces. It could work, but people would still be expected to make a sacrifice for the common good...

Don’t forget track technology. Some of hose curbs were 18 inches tall. No run-outs or barriers to contain the cars, and trees and gullies along the road shoulders.  No thanks.

Funny. I read this:

Volvo CPO is the best in the industry. 7yr/100K from original purchase. You can get 1 yr old cars 10K miles for 15-20% off MSRP easily.

Completely agree. 1 Watt of acoustic power is incredibly uncomfortably loud. You only need 500W stereos because the conversion from electric to acoustic power is so lousy. Most of your 500W are put out at heat either in the amplifier or the speaker. Hardly any goes into the air.

But, volvo.

LIGO does not detect radio frequency energy.  It does detect the vibrations of space itself.

Gah, those mandibles are deep into that finger!

I thought they were just hiding the new design changes.

My mother died from one you, Fuk.

This is the worst interpretation of that graph I have seen. You are looking at the number of occurrences. Driving the average speed does not causally protect you from the other occurrences. You need to convolve the number of collisions with their probability of occurrence with the severity. Most deadly accidents are

The graph is misleading in the way that you suggest, but the graphic is clear that it states BENIFIT vs NO BENIFIT. If you think about it for a bit, they actually plotted the difference between the two plots you suggested. I would argue that this is the proper way to quickly summarize the solution.

One row of trees will do less than a wall, rows and rows of trees will do more than a wall.

No, the sound is naturally diffuse, which is what the geometry you suggested would cause for a non-diffuse (music/audio/tonal) source.

This is partially true, but not the way you say. It reflects back across the high way and is then shielded and bounced by the next wall. You imply that they don’t work at creating sound shadows with is incorrect.

As the graph above states, it really only changes for those in the shadow zone right next to the wall.

Carving out ‘deadwood’ and laying off productive workers are exactly the issues of this article. Coming from exactly this situation just 8 months ago, I’ve learned corporate america can do what ever it wants and only needs to say it is better for the bottom line, even if miraculously financials turn around. However, yo
