Legally I don’t think anyone can stop one customer from helping another customer out at the check-out. The offer of and acceptance of money transferred would constitute a contract. Who could step in and stop such and act? No one.
I used to work for Kroger in the corporate customer service department. we got complaints all the time about our cashiers being rude to people on assistance. it’s pretty gross, especially since retail pays so poorly that you KNOW a ton of those cashiers are on assistance TOO
Carroll seems like a nice person both in her offer to help pay and dignified complain to management and the public about this cashier.
I bet the odds are very good that cashier also uses WIC to make ends meet and we are seeing an epic case of projection here.
Weird that a cashier can police who pays for what at the checkout. Was there no manger around?
You can also say that his family was victimized by his cheating. Whether something is illegal or not doesn’t necessarily define right or wrong. In this case both are wrong. The fact that one is illegal and one isn’t is irrelevant. The fact is that Kevin created this situation.
Kevin is a victim of attempted extortion. And in America cheating is not a crime.
Kevin is no victim here. How is being betrayed by your longtime friend any worse than betraying your pregnant wife?
That’s purely from a legal perspective. In many places in the world, cheating is illegal. Someone can argue that both are just as wrong morally. Kevin is not a victim in this.
In fact, studies show that black and brown schools get more funding per pupil than white ones.
I was about to express the same view. This decision affects two groups, the students being bumped up and the students being bumped down. All deserve good education. Selection based on merit seems most appropriate, however, that perpetuates the problems that created the uneven education in the first place.
You’re factually incorrect about several items which makes me doubt the rest of what you’re saying generally. Maya Angelou spent her teenage years in California. Harvard has a 98% graduation rate, among the highest in the nation, so even if every single student who dropped out was African American, which is definitely…
Or a terrible one. The 25% of kids that were removed now go to the terrible school that the other kids were removed from.
oh damn...how did i not see that?
“...it’s basically a performance-art...”
I wonder what she thought of the Cosby verdict since she’s cool with paying off mistresses?
The ability of the American Right to miss the point of any discussion that makes them look bad is truly truly impressive. Most of the time they’re intentionally missing the point, of course: it’s basically a performance-art version of “im 12 and what is this.” They’ve learned that their voters/followers/sycophants…
Money is one hell of a drug.
she’s pathetic - publicly defending a serial womanizer who’s constantly been an asshole to her own family...all while her father is dying...what a great daughter.
