No argument can be made that maybe Francis is being deceived by lying advisors and really does not know. The documentation is there to be read, and it is damning. The hypocrisy and protection of abusers go to the top, even the “cool pope.” Rotten to the core.

McCain’s political legacy should be largely that of someone who frequently and loudly toyed with doing the right thing and yet decided to do the other thing almost every single time, and who was a willing and active participant in the destruction of one country and helping the racist, authoritarian right rise in his

As someone else suggested earlier in this thread, I would not assume she was willing. He would be bigger, stronger, richer, with a history of assaulting women, and she needed to keep her job.  Who could she complain to, and how would it help her?

That’s great! I had not seen it. Cruz would not come off well in a debate with O’Rourke unless its format allowed him to tell lies without challenge. Texans appreciate a sharp sense of humor skewering self-important hypocrisy.

No, usually more cagey than that, calculated to appeal to Trumpites. Like saying his first name is deliberately used to dishonestly pander to Latinos or that his position is disrespectful to veterans. These comments are pretty much drowned out by the positive ones, though, and any sane person actually listening to

Oh yes. He’s been working hard to be heard and to connect to Texas voters though, and it’s been getting through. I recommend this video from his Bill Maher interview in March:

The Guardian has the question and O’Rourke’s answer without the irritating and unnecessary background music:

I’m imagining an alarm module that has a kind of dead-man’s-switch connection with a small subcutaneous dock unit. (Sub-Q sensing units are already in use for other applications, like some medical applications.) A prisoner could switch on actively to start an alarm and summon help, and the deadman’s switch would

I wonder if some kind of emergency call button, triggering very rapid guard intervention and video coverage, would work? Something the prisoner would have accessible on his person, triggered by him at need or when removed from next to his body - some kind of detector for this removal would be need to be designed. It

The question I want to ask is, why didn’t they see this coming and prevent it? Larry Nassar is a notorious child sexual abuser as well as being physically small and weak-looking. Yet he was put into the general prison population, apparently with no effective monitoring to detect and prevent assaults. This result was

Yes, exactly. He’s a sleazy guy, but he knows an under-the-bus set-up when he sees one aimed at his own precious self under construction. CYA all the way.

She is more cunning than Junior or Eric (who are both dumb as rocks as well as thoroughly nasty pieces of work), and she knows how to play the game and look the part. Criminal through and through.

Wow, that’s neat!  I was never gymnastics material and have no reason to dream of leos.

I see Ivanka as being in the co-conspirator category, with an added interest because of his lust and as a trophy he can point to as evidence of his own good genetics and beauty. He certainly doesn’t love her, and he would attack her instantly if she flipped on him. She’s been in on the money-laundering schemes and

Of course he does. He always has. His whole world has just four categories of people:

Yes, he is complicit in the firing of Comey and who knows what else. Not an admirable character. But he is not as stupid and hubris-blinded as the other players, and his involvement means he has some receipts from r Mueller. People like him are experts in CYA. He saw the handwriting on the wall and made his move

UPDATE: John Dean, who was in a somewhat similar situation under Nixon, called into CNN with some salient comments:

She is in a class of her own. She was born with a body that would be suited for pursuing gymnastics, yes, but her awesome determination and relentless drive to perfection are all her own doing.

It should be emphasized that McGahn was never Trump’s personal lawyer, but White House Counsel, less personal and more oriented to the office of the presidency. He is not paid by Trump, not a member of the cartel. Trump ordered him to fire Mueller and he refused, as reported this past January:

I’m not surprised that Trump himself did not mention McCain — in fact I would have predicted this pettiness — but how revealing it is that not even one of the speakers dared to do so either. Yet another demonstration of just how craven and complicit they are. I’m no fan of McCain, but this was really egregious.
