At the 26-year-old Chinese restaurant I work at our card-reader throws an error with the chip cards unless we press ‘make sale’ and enter the amount first... with the old cards you just swipe it and then the screen to enter the amount automatically comes up

I hotboxed while driving once. It was the worst idea ever. I still drove fine, but it was extremely hard. If it wasn’t 3am and devoid of traffic, I’m not sure I would’ve made it home without incident. I also remember hovering at about 45mph on the highway and getting passed by cars going double that.

Also, I have stopped an automatic car from about 10mph by slamming it in park... The transmission did not sound happy. Maybe the safety feature only engages above a certain speed? Or maybe it’s just only on some cars...

Yup. As much as I speed and slide around empty corners, even I’m growing out of the idea that every commute is a race. At least with a Prius I’d have a comfortable space to sit in and MPG numbers to watch (I’m aware that other new cars tell you what MPG you’re getting too). And for all the people saying Volt...…

I have nothing against the Prius. If I could afford it, I’d VIP one while keeping a Miata (or AE86, or something else) as a fun/track car. (I don’t have the money, so I’m still buying a fun/track car first, practicality be damned... if I ever let go of my LS400). I even think the last-gen is pretty good looking.…
