Well yeah, but it’s just a motorcycle helmet with tinted visor, not one of these fancy pants welding things.

Every now and then I think Kinja cant get worse. Then along comes a slideshow.

I don’t think we got the Fiero over this side of the pond.  I’ve driven a few when I was in Canada and they were all modified to varying degrees of terrible idea.

Rust free one.  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.  Good one.

Safety 3rd coming right up:

Aston was tanking long before Covid came along to finish it off.

Been there, done it before. Sometimes it was moving to another country (twice), sometimes it was to revel in simply not having to work. If you’re not earning and travelling you’re free of taxes and general grief.

You, Sir, are the hero we desperately need in these dangerous times.

I’m a serial Mid Engine Idiot.  Fiat X1/9, AW11 MR2, S1 Elise.

As I encounter the problems I certainly will!  Get on the 2zz roadster group on facebook.  Those guys are awesome!  The files section has tons of info.

Wise words.  :)

I changed this £3 inlet manifold gasket on the Elise:

This is kind of where I’m at with the Elise.  Throwing £3k a year and a dozen weekends at it to keep it going has sort of lost its appeal.

I’ve got an early S1 Elise so mine is rover engined. Aside from the body and chassis, pretty much everything else is bought in. Titan race rack for steering, rolls royce cabin lighting, Ferrari F40 dash vents, Probax seats, Nardi steering wheel, Rover engine mounts, filler cap is a jeep cherokee item with a alloy blob

Fucking nightmare. An absolute, screaming trainwreck of a thing. Even when it works its so low no one sees it. I’m yet to encounter an Audi Q anything that hasn’t tried to drive over it. The headlights confirm all the Lucas jokes. The roof, even new, even specialist fettled, leaks like a bastard down the right side,

That’s the goal.  And unlike my Elise, when stuff breaks on the MR2 its all Yaris and Corolla parts at £20 a throw so I can be savage with it.

And the two pockets behind the seat.  But yes, it doesn’t have as much space as the Miata.  Then again, fewer hairdresser jokes and fun mid engined dynamics.

I daily drove a Elise for a decade.  Short wheelbase, snap oversteer and I are comfortable.
