“I just don’t know enough about them and their reliability to firmly say so.”
At least you’re willing to admit your ignorance. Yes the early implementation of GM’s AFM on their 5.3Ls turned what was a gem of a motor into one that burned oil and wore out lifters and sometimes camshafts by 100k miles.
Why are we even comparing an unloaded-trailerless semi truck? Once you account for one with a trailer (a loaded one approaching the 40 ton GVWR limit) this would spike so far off your chart that the point of comparing a sedan vs a crossover vs a larger SUV truly would look meaningless.
Any Truck/SUV (at least an actual one like a Tahoe or 4Runner, not a crossover) is doing exponentially more damage on asphalt than a car.
Why? Have you seen what weight a lot of these “Crossovers” are clocking in at? And even then, the difference between a 3000lb sedan and 5000lb truck/crossover/minvan is truly…
Yeah, eight times a negligible amount, still a negligible amount, relative to 40 ton tractor trailers
“and it was nothing but help and ideas from all types of random people about how to get back on the road.”
That was my main takeaway as well. That long cross country ride on an old bike really instilled confidence in the basic goodness of people
I likewise did a LONG circumnavigation of the US with my buddies in college on ratty 70s Jap bikes with NY plates on them (39 days on the road, all state highways, NY to CA and back). Met some of the nicest people all over the country. The Harley riding biker bar owner in a small town in Kansas who saved our bacon,…
My buddies and I rode in on 70s Jap bikes (and then broke down) in a tiny town in Kansas in 2008 with NY plates. First local we met was this grizzled tattooed up guy who drove by in an old Dakota, then threw it in reverse (we were getting a bit antsy not gonna lie), then said “holy shit you boys rode those all the way…
“If you unknowingly stop in a certain part of town in certain red regions and you’re alone, it’s reasonable to be concerned for your safety if you don’t get out and leave before things deteriorate.”
Much more likely to happen in the “wrong” part of an inner city, and even then, I wouldn’t worry too much outside of late…
LMAO no kidding. He sounds unhinged.
Touche!
Oh wow, a whopping .3 more inches lol, but yeah you’re right

Because it’s the only good content on here anymore (that isn’t some anti-car political crap)
Not douchy, just the norm. You’re the exception to the rule. I’ll answer any question anyone asks honestly, but if you didn’t notice the rust on the bottom of the inside door panel on a 25 year old Ford Ranger, I’m not going out of my way to point it out to you.
You don’t use private sale car classifieds much do you?
