What about making porn at work (what she was doing)?
‘41 was a desperate year (42 was as well). How would you have planned the defense of Moscow? I agree that Zhukov was notorious for ham-fisted sledgehammer assaults that could have been done with less loss of life. The rush for Berlin at the end of the war was IMO the worst example of this. In my great grandfather’s…
Came here to say this
Nov 7th would be a good idea. Put them in winter uniforms and do a “defense of Moscow” theme, would be neat. My own great grandfather was part of the Siberian Divisions that arrived in October ‘41 to help with the defense. He fought near the Volokolamsk Highway, fought some of the Germans’ best SS Divisions to a…
“Actual Russians in Russia had mostly gotten over it”
Huh? Yeah the chaos of the 90s made it much harder to focus on things like this. But it certainly was never forgotten.
Yeah, the operation that basically executed a double pincer around the area of France, through totally unexpected/impassable routes with crazy logistics, that encircled a ~1 million man Kwantung Army. The operation that was standard material to be studied at West Point for decades.
Educate yourself a bit.
Why do you keep saying it’s non overdrive? Because the transmission didn’t get a electronic locking torque converter in 2002 yet? The transmission ratio in 4th gear is still an overdrive, by definition.
Also these Devilles look like they do 0-60 in right around 7 seconds. Not a hotrod, but still quick even today, and…
“it revs a lot because of the vtec, comprimising low end power for fuel economy”
Huh? It’s just geared short.
“I remember accidentally spinning the tires shifting into 2nd gear when I test drove it,”
LOL fellow 2.3L Lima Ranger owner here who casually barked the tires on a 6spd Xterra test drive.
My dad’s ‘07 Fit is definitely a good bit peppier than my 4cyl stick Rangers, even in RWD reg cab guise the Rangers are still close…
Why are you so interested in the guy’s teenage sex life and finances? Really weird dude.
“The steering was excellent”
It’s a fast ratio, I’ll give it that. Besides that? Typically early lifeless “videogame” EPS
The lower mac strut arms are probably what he was referring to. And yeah, the rear doesn’t have trailing arms or anything, just looks like a couple of beefy bushings facing forward on short extensions from the beam.
“ acceleration akin to a Caterpillar 797. Once it’s up above fifty though it just keeps on very slowly pulling until you hit the top of fourth gear, because this has an automatic without overdrive.”
What does this even mean? It doesn’t have an overdriven top gear ratio?
More power, better ride, better interior transformation. Cheaper interior materials, worse visibility, NOTABLY worse steering feel (ie zero) and worse handling (high center of gravity). How someone who owned both cars can miss the last two points in particular is beyond me!
I found my right leg suspended uncomfortably where to maintain a steady speed on the highway, my leg was in constant tension (no Cruise control). Maybe they changed it somewhat for the ‘09+? I ended up installing a storm door spring to add some weight to the pedal just to take some tension off my leg and put in some…
The Fit is a crappy highway car, and notably uncomfortable in terms of thigh support/pedal placement for taller drivers, the first two generations anyways. It’s a great urban runabout no doubt, but hardly the ideal all arounder some people on here insist that it is. I agree, it’s perfectly mediocre in the twisties…
The Fiesta handles at least as well as the Fit, and rides better and is notably more refined overall. But yes it gives up a lot in interior room.
Most normal American families would be vastly happier in a minivan than a tinny Fit. They’re great urban/suburban runabouts, but miserable highway cars. Noisy, the manuals sit at like 4k on the highway, not much suspension compliance, blown around in crosswinds, etc. Grew up driving an ‘07 Fit, when family car…
“Let’s throw ergonomic in there too. When you sit in it, you feel like someone actually thought about how things should be laid out and how easy they should be to use and reach.”
Unless you’re taller than the average Asian, in which case it has brutal ergos (in regard to seat thigh support and pedal placement).
