The guy might be technically right as the different types of belts are defined, but in shop circles, “serpentine belt” = one belt driving everything versus multiple belts with their separate driven accessories.

I was following along until the tire rotation: you have the car up on 4 jack stands or something?  Access to a lift?

Fit has EPS iirc

SRT-4s aside, the first gen Neons box stock really gave the Honda guys something to think about (Civic guys without a B16 swap anyways). Add in a few fairly easy modifications (bolt ons, to more serious stuff like a 2.4 swap, turbo) and they could really run. I’m building a ‘98 R/T sedan right now for our local paved

Yeah his statement is definitely out of date (based on a 2015 car, not surprising).  My last two CX5 rentals left me FLOORED at how quiet and refined they were over rough pavement and long highway drives.

Test drive a ‘17+ Mazda product.  Night and day.  I’m not exaggerating when I say they went from nosiest to luxury-car quiet in the course of a mid-model update.  200-300lb of sound deadening and laminated glass will do that.

For what it’s worth, when they were new, 5th gen Preludes were considered properly quick, with a 0-60 in the 6.3(?) second range.  No slouch even today!

I want to see you remove plastidip from a set of 4 wheels and somehow(?) remove sprayed on taillight tint in 20 minutes.

I agree, it can all be undone (you’d need a new set of taillights most likely). But my original hangup was over the use of “tasteful

“how to do mods tastefully”

Nope.

Honestly a 5th gen Prelude sounds a heck of a lot more fetching than MOST of what’s on the market these days.

I’ve dabbled in a series of beaters not out of necessity the last few years, but because I enjoy the older cars a lot more. Well, playing it smart and making a minor profit on all of them was the other half of

I’m with you 100%. Love cars, love saving/investing for the future more.

I read this:

“to assume that someone who brings home $60,000 should be grabbing a $6,000 beater from Craiglist is pretty unrealistic.”

And thought: “no, that sounds about spot on.”

Excuse me, “spade?” Uh, that’s a racist term too. What are you, some kind of racist?

“racist POS”

Oh jeez give it a rest.

Why suggest a bouncy poor handling XJ just to handle “winter?” I’d rather have a sedan on snow tires for more secure winter handling.

Europeans live in tiny countries and drive a LOT less to get to work, etc.

The GM Lambdas are a bit of a horror show. Early ones had transmission issues, timing chain stretch issues, and electrical issues (caused by poor body sealing issues). The timing chain stretch in GM 3.6s never was really “fixed,” they just reprogrammed the ECU to allow for more tolerance in how far the cam phasers

I have more of a perspective from the service/mechanic’s side of things, and those Lambdas are absolute NIGHTMARES. Electrical issues, stretching timing chains, etc. Avoid. I’d rather buy a Highlander/RX350 with twice the miles, or an MDX at least (they have a few issues of their own stemming from the VCM system).

“ let me suggest you save your self-sacrifice for college tuition.”

“multi screen entertainment system”
Nice strawman bro

Putting your kids above your own selfish wants is literally the definition of being a parent.

“if you are demonstrating to your children that they are the most important things in the world to the detriment of your own personal needs and wants, you’re doing them a tremendous disservice and - in my opinion - are a shitty parent.”

That is literally the opposite of how it works in the entirety of the developing
