The actual delivery equipment, which 85% of these cars do not have, is the expensive part. VW would (in theory) have to manufacturer a DEF storage and delivery system to fit in cars that don't have space for them (since they weren't originally designed for them) AND rewrite a ton of code. The parts and labor for such

That's not true at all. The fix for all 2.0CR cars with AdBlue is going to be much more complex than a reflash.

In my state, none of this is decided by a court. I did send in my final notice to VWoA, I just doubt anything will come of it in the end.

Right, my car is a '14 JSW TDI, so it qualifies. Most states use (purchase price x mileage) / 120,000 to determine the cost of the miles you drove. I would get around $4,500 back from VW, which would mean that I drove the car nearly for free for 18 months.

I've done that on all 3 trips, and sent in my final notice to VWoA, but I doubt I will have the outcome I want.

I have documented it, and submitted my final notice letter to VWoA, but I am not hopeful.

Most states require a buyback at full price + taxes under their lemon laws. Which means you could stand to significantly profit if you were able to lemon law the car. In my experience, it's not possible to do it (at least here in Georgia).

I’ve already tried this in Georgia. The dealers refuse to give you a work order or anything with dealer letterhead. They even called corporate and told them my name and VIN and that I was “attempting to lemon law the car”, even though I said no such thing.

They made way, way too many S200s for them to appreciate at any point in the future. Maybe a low mileage one will hold even in value, but the only S2000 that will ever appreciate is (maybe) the CR.

Your entire post is categorically untrue and way off the mark.

I had an idiot try to pull this move on me as we were signing the Bill of Sale. I was selling a 13 year old S4 with high miles and some mechanical issues for $5.5k and the guy, as I signed the Bill of Sale, told me he only brought $4500. I told him to go get $1500, because the price had just gone up, ripped up the

The replacement Viper engine is approximately $8k.

Well, the resale value did drop. A lot.

Precisely. His articles are just the same click-baity stuff nowadays anyway...

$30k including the $25k spent on the shell and engine...

Certainly generous, but you never know what is broken, doesn’t work, etc. from a salvage title shell. You have to figure in all the setup time, time spent finding and engine, getting it from the freight terminal, etc. I would think you could do it in 50 hours, but you never know.

If you value your time at $0/hr, then sure. I don't though.

I enjoy working on cars too, but there's still an opportunity cost. In any case, there are much better shells you can buy and swap an engine into than this particular example.

$30k was including the $25k spent on the shell and engine. I figured $50/hr for 100 hours, not $300/hr!

$30k was including the $25k already spent on the shell/engine. I make about $50/hr, not $300!
