Yeah markups like that are ridiculous, but dealers see opportunities like this to make up for all the lost gross on the other cars they are selling at near or below invoice. Sure on the low volume cars dealers won’t save you money. But on any volume model (like Teslas upcoming model 3) they will because of the price

In my younger more immature/inconsiderate days I actually broke up with a girl because she lived on a dirt road. I got tired of having to constantly wash my car after picking her up. That’s not the reason I gave her, but that was the truth. Some time later the road got paved and we dated again! Younger me was horrible.

I had a friend who was looking for “Dick’s Sporting Goods” online and went to www.dicks.com and got a rude awakening. I think the sporting chain does control that domain now, but it made for a good laugh that night!

Maybe not the best photo, but one of my favorites that came to mind

They already had these with the old bodystyle in Europe, the US just didn’t get them. Word on the street is that the US is getting this one next year. Although if it follows the A6/A7 model - the A5 sportback will only come to the US in a well equipped quattro form, which is probably fine because people who buy this

Exactly - Audi’s system (Adv. cruise + Lane Assist) will ding after a few seconds and if you don’t touch the wheel, the system cuts off. That might sound dangerous, but once you know this, you learn to keep your hands on the wheel.

I think part of the problem is that the majority of these redesigns were done under different lead designers (Q7, A4, R8, A5, etc). de Silva left, the next guy came in and left before the rollout of any of these (possibly because why they had to redesign the Q7 multiple times and it was delayed), and now there’s the

On the fuel mileage - it’s not that “you” care about MPG, Audi has to meet MPG targets in order to sell cars - so in order to sell a thirsty RS5, they have to squeeze every MPG they can out of the A5.

Everywhere else gets the same car, We get a special car for the North America region that has to meet US regs. Think Amber turn signals up front, different emissions and safety regs, stuff like that.

Not really a car part, but especially when I got my first “cool car”, I would go outside many nights after getting in the bed for fear that I’d left a window down or sunroof open. I’ve done this multiple times throughout my driving life, and I don’t remember ever finding a window open.

So this is a homosexual slur reference to the Greenbay Packers? Can’t believe it even got printed.

The foxbody Saleen Mustang:

Well actually, the NSX wore a Honda badge in Japan (see what I did there)

That looks like the factory grill - on the R8s, the rings are on the hood, not the grill.

so much win

True - I just thought the Dart was the saddest

The Dodge Dart has DISCOUNTS built into the configurator:

I wonder if you guaranteed that everyone would pay MSRP for new cars, if dealers would agree to not add additional markup on the high demand models? (basically what you’re saying Tesla does) I’m sure dealers would make more money overall with that model. When dealers have to discount “high volume” models to almost $0

Speaking of potential vaporware hypercars, have you or Jalopnik heard anymore from Lyons Motorcars or about the Devel Sixteen? I saw the Devel engine dyno video, and I’ve seen the car driving around, but haven’t seen proof of that engine actually being in the car.

Doesn’t VW have a proving grounds in AZ? That might explain the plates
