I’ve been in a lot of debates on the “autopilot” name. Personally I think it’s a perfect name, since my understanding of “autopilot” is a system that assists the pilot to the point he can take hands off the controls for a period of time, but the pilot must be ready to take over in certain situations (which is exactly

On the other hand, how many accidents has Tesla’s autopilot avoided? Perhaps the overall accident rate is less due to autopilot. You just hear about the accidents, which is not the full data set that needs to be considered. Also with accidents due to autopilot did the driver have their hand on the wheel at all times

Until mid this year, Volvo’s Pilot Assist system had a max speed of only 30mph, so low that it is practically useless (and won’t be possible to use on the highway anyways).

Ultimately there is no preventing stupidity. Someone will find a way to wreck (at fault) with this system in use. Its too bad Tesla gets the wrap for that. But their updates shouldn’t be reactive but proactive. Then again, what do I know about electric semi-autonomous vehicles?

The system should also now be able to take highway off ramps, and it should better detect when someone wants to change into your lane thanks to an increased ability to see another car’s directional signal.

Lambo = Meth

Normally I hate this complaint, but holyshit with the Tesla articles today.
