Yes you are right but on the wrong side of the fence. Normal force X frictional coefficient = grip. Your reducing normal force reduces grip. Traction control will kick in even quicker on a lighter car. Down force is all mass at 0 mph.

I’m guessing not actually. Once you have enough torque to spin the tires, weight gives you down force at low speeds to get grip.
