It’s so tiny...
In Jimmy Fallon’s defense, it was the longest he ever went without breaking.
I prefer the coloring in the original. There are more earthy and rusty tones, especially on the character models.
I enjoyed the article, but suggest a missing element. It’s not so much Shirley Jackson had a running theme of too much time being alone creating madness, but rather a similar-related theme. That is of being isolated due to being in continuous unrewarded service to someone who never gives as much as they take. It’s the…
I should have clarified. Tessie's reaction is exactly what bothers them. It was fair enough all the previous years, but when it's Tessie's time, it's somehow less equitable? Kids don't like that. There are definitely some parallels between the story and contemporary times, especially in the context of how people…
How odd! I agree that Miss Strangeworth brings her retributions on herself, but Tessie is another story. It’s easy to say she should have rebelled against the town’s lottery, but in practical terms, rebellion is pretty useless. She’d have been expelled from the society at the very least, and helpless.
Personal opinion: I think the build up, in The Exorcist, is much more enjoyable than the actual exorcism. Personal opinion: all the action in Avengers movies are dull as shit. There’s also a film I’ve seen 20 years apart where when I first saw it, I wanted to walk out, I was so bored. Now, i find it an enjoyable film…
Thank you for correcting all the inaccuracies in this review that were driving me bonkers.
The Excorcist succeeds in the same way as its predecessor, Rosemary’s Baby (1968) and its successor, The Omen (1976). All three movies are based in ancient Catholic demonic lore, but none require the audience to believe it; the terror comes from the fact that Rosemary, Chris MacNeil, and the Thornes came from a place…
That’s not Satan, it’s a demon named Pazuzu. Father Merrick unearths an ancient statue of him on a dig in Iraq. This actually leads to some interesting speculation about how old the demon is and if he’s related to the Christian/Catholic heaven and hell dichotomy at all.
This was hard to watch as a person with temporal lobe epilepsy. That’s one of the first things they suggest is causing it in the movie, and seizure disorders are the reason a lot of exorcisms are performed today, killing people sometimes. It just makes me sad. I never ended up finishing the movie cause it was too…
They do have upgrades for doing damage even when you miss, as well as upgrades that make it very easy to get a 100 percent chance hit if you put yourself in the right postition. By the end of my last Xcom 2 game I was barely missing any shots.
Why the hell would you choose that spot to meditate other than making sure the paparazzi can get a good shot?
In all the pics above, when Mendes is wearing white or gray, his hair is hanging loose and easy, but whenever he’s wearing black (albeit shorts and tee shirts), his hair is in an updo. Kudos to him for hanging onto some small sense of aesthetic formality: basic black? Pin up that hair!
I was thoroughly opposed to having Biden as the candidate, but here we are. Honestly, I think voters know we’re electing a placeholder who won’t be capable of completing a four year term (which makes his VP choice more significant than ever).
Reading the comments is pretty sad. Not every sexual assault victim has a spotless past and a tearful, ready-for-Lifetime story. Maybe that lady who was a bitch to you at work is also a victim, and it doesn’t make it any less bad. Maybe the guy you always see holding weird libertarian signs was molested. It’s still…
“Nintendo Removes Game From Switch Shop After Developer Reveals Secret Code Editor” - that’s not a good piece of evidence.
If there’s any game in the series that really doesn’t need remake treatment, that’s the one. And honestly, I’d rather get a new entry with a stronger identity (ala RE7) than a souped up version of anything else. Of the three most recent Resident Evil games, that’s been by far the most interesting of the bunch.
I agree with both of you where the episode definitely had a clear point, but much like the Whole Foods story arc a few seasons back, I viewed excommunicating Mr. Hankey as a nod to their running gag of weeding out characters that are ‘outdated’ (based on how critics would view them/characters like the Archie Bunkers…
