Oh, I wasn’t really arguing about the quality of Lynch’s work, just the fact that Herzog is probably the biggest influence on him. He totally pulls from different films and directors, but that’s (kinda sadly) the norm for most filmmakers now.

As far as a direct influence, Herzog is way more influential at least for Lynch.

I think it’s up until the Leland reveal and then he drops out until the finale.

Did the yellowface thing even involve Lynch in the slightest? I though he left halfway through season two and only worked on the finale.

Pretty sure Lynch didn’t have anything to do with the Martell storyline in season two. He only was involved with season two up until the big reveal and then the finale.

Pretty sure Herzog is more of an influence on Lynch than Luis Buñuel?

I go with the film being black comedy because the chief influence on this film (Polanski) is very well known for his brand of black comedy. Rosemary’s Baby itself is basically a comedy just as much as it is a horror film with Ruth’s acting and the other cultists’ behavior. The deadpan way Toni says “I got sick of

Yeah, I was pretty sure about that too but I felt like it might be going a bit too far without to say that without someone else agreeing with me.

The VVitch had critical claim but a pretty swift mini-backlash from the public. So did The Babadook.

Minor spoilers follow...

I think it is?

Horror movies do have a pretty long tradition of both skewering the concept of the nuclear family and reinforcing it.

My favorite thing about Fallout 4 is that it’s the only story based game I have ever played without a theme.

I mean, Barr did suffer a traumatic brain injury at a pretty early age. She’s always acted erratically. I think in a way we have always seen the same Roseanne and her behavior is just filtered through current times and issues.

I mean, Alien is just a slasher. A beautiful slasher with wonderful production design, acting, directing, and writing; still, there are plenty of great slashers I can group it with. Halloween, Black Christmas, Psycho (I would call Psycho proto-slasher but still), and many more are either as good or better than Alien.

Nah

I imagine my perspective comes the places I frequent (Reddit and IGN for example). To me, it seems like people were absolutely desperate for something like the second film and that’s why people were really clawing for Neill Blomkamp to make his film.

Prometheus actually has a (surprising) 7 on imdb which was astonishing. I know plenty hate the movie mainly because of inconsistent characterization, unnecessary characters (Vickers), and odd comedic characters, but it seems most people appreciate the film for its visuals, Shaw’s character, and David’s character. I

I would disagree quite a bit that any of the films are perfect (even though I love the whole series).

I don’t think fans have any sway at all, I simply think that audience’s refusal to accept 3, 4, 5, and 6 is ridiculous. 2 of those are acceptable films, 1 is complicated (Alien 3), and I would honestly say that Covenant is just as good if not better than the first two.
