Looky here, partner. My 1993 Corolla got like 33 mpg. I’m looking at a new Rav4, they get 33 mpg. The Highlander (big SUV) isn’t far off at 27. That’s unreal for that size, unthinkable 10 years ago. The Rav4 Hybrid gets 40. FORTY in an AWD SUV. That’s crazy too! Yes, sedans all get 40 or better now, but since SUV’s

K cars were also maligned in the article, but those damn things made front wheel drive acceptable in America and printed money for Chrysler, too.

Zero to sixty.... sometime

It’s like the Pur Sang Bugatti replicas. Is it really a Tyrrell P34 if it’s a replica? Wonder if they’ll come as a VW kit too, lol.

Don’t Jeep axles fall completely out when they break? Advantage or disadvantage?

I’d like to see some video of a less-jeepy Jeep like a patriot or compass or whatever try this trail. I’m really curious about how the Bronco Sports quasi-diff lock works, too.

This glorified Escape with a pseudo-locker looks pretty good!

I dunno man, Sedans are lame, not SUVs. Kids have so much crap to cart around with these days, it doesn’t make sense to buy a sedan with littles. Minivans are underrated, sure, but people like AWD, leaving only the Sienna or just about all of the SUVCUVs. Telling me what I want is never going to work.

Augezeichnet, David! What hoopties lurk in the wilds of Europe? When I was stationed in Bamberg, there was a hoopty markt right outside the gate. Mostly early 90s 3-series and ratty porches. Can’t wait to see the minivan on the Ring!

I’m usually glad my state doesn’t have inspections, but then again, this... thing showed up down the street. Camryado?

Ah. So the Comanche is the winter truck and the J10 is the summer truck? I can dig it.

I’ve actually loved this series and I love your rusty shenanigans, David. But why keep the Comanche if you have a J10? Why keep the 92 XJ if you have also have a 91 with 5-speed? Or viceyversey? Why keep either XJ if you really love that Holy Grail ZJ?

Pretty much what I’m looking for to supplement the paid off Highlander Hybrid and F150- an Economical little commuter that’s not a Prius. The idea of never really using the engine is appealing. I think I’ve seen ones under ten, but with more miles, so NP for me.

So I replaced a cruise control switch this weekend for my 2001 F150, and something occurred to me - somewhere in China is a factory making random electronic bits for 20 year old vehicles. Why? Why would anyone be making these parts anymore, and how did they get the plans and whatnot to make them? Did Ford sell off the

Neutral: absolutely! We’ll keep the Highlander Hybrid because SUVs actually rule with kids and dogs, and the beater F150 because I like it and trucks rule for truck stuff, which being Montanans happens a lot. But an EV or PHEV like a Cmax Energi or Volt would really fill the bill for a cheap commuter. Sure, so would a

Serious question to the engineers... how do you control the emissions on a Jet engine? It’s not like you can put a catalytic converter on it?

How about getting a pencil box or something to keep your fancy funnel in? That might not be enough to keep fumes out.... hmmm... Maybe that container that tennis balls come in? Keep paper towels and a stick in there too so you can shove a paper towel through when you’re done and put it in the garbage at the pump. Then

I love that this Mach E, a car so new it hasn’t even been sold to the public, has been hooned so hard the brakes are already shot.

Wrangler vs Bronco - all I hear y’all saying is V8 vs V6, why not offer a little diesel for the off-roaders who really want that low end torque? Both FCA and Ferd have em. I’m a V8 guy through and through but I can see the writing on the wall. Turbos are the law of the land these days.

Not having a proper garage stymied the last project I wanted to do myself: Rear pinion seal on a 2001 F-150. In theory, easy: pull the 4 bolts on the driveshaft, pull off the pinion nut, use a puller on the plate thingy, pry out old seal. In practice with no air tools and in my slightly sloped parking lot? I
