This is also happening anyway (albeit slower) due to safety technology. You have to have a screen in your car now, because you have to have a backup camera... minimum new car price goes up every year, this will just be another cause of the bump.

It actually really varies. I live in a rich rural area of MA with lots of colleges (educated populace) and in general people are still being very careful. But I work for a company in FL and the stories I hear from my co-workers are horrifying.
