I have an 87. The only issue with the 603 was the early batches of the aluminum head - but they got it figured out pretty quick. The early ones that would warp are pretty much all dead, so any that are still running should be fine.

I own an 87, in tan. And I SWEAR there is no coke in it... that I know of...
