But I also want to spend like 1500 MAX, so nothing too new. I will look at the CM400t though, thanks!

If things go right, perhaps I’ll get something early next year when winter is at it’s worst and people just want to dump these things. I’m not super picky, but I’d love an old enduro or something like a Seca or CB. Later model sport bikes are hard to ignore as well. $1,000 Ninjas and Katanas left and right!
My cousin had one as an extra bike for a while. A hoot to ride and you got more attention at a bike night than a $40k Harley CVO.
It’s amazing how much more you can get for a sporty once you give it some character...
Yes, but having a bunch of gnarly old side bikes to play with is a TON of fun... my cousin and I had a Silverwing just like from the COTD and it was old and finicky, leaked fuel from the petcock, but tons of fun, stupid cheap to buy and for parts and very easy to work on.
I am in the market for a starter bike for my wife... I want to get something crappy enough that she wont feel bad WHEN (not if) she drops it in a parking lot, but interesting enough that I will ride it sometimes too. Ideas???
Yes. Easier to work on, cheaper to get running, and many parts for the cars you can carry in your backpack!
Nice man. Longest I managed was a little over 3, most of the time on a fat beast of a Suzuki. But yes, ride it like you don’t give a $h!t about depreciation - There is nothing I hate more than a low mileage shiny bike that’s over a year old.
And yes, I know it’s a shit motorcycle by any real criteria, but as a crazy whack concept it gets me every time.
My first real bike was a 78 GS550! Oh the memories... gas was like 85 cents a gallon, I could literally ride all day on pocket change.
LMAO
My ‘everyday’ is a K1200GT. It’s a monstrously capable machine, from full tour to sport bike in under 30 seconds. The FJR is nice, never been on one but I would jump at the chance.
Oh and a more specific reply - most HD’s don’t do much for me. But I have a buddy with a ‘14 street glide, intake, exhaust and VH autotuner. They made a lot of changes for the 14 bikes, including a different cam and updated faring. It’s actually quite fast (for a cruiser) nice ergonomics and has been super reliable…
Overwhelmingly I would say its actually a class - Sport Tour. Those guys seem to ride all the damn time.
That’s not my job, I was just pointing out your erroneous assumption (reliability) and offering one reason why I find them to be fun. You don’t have to like them to be able to see why someone else might.
1) a turn of phrase
^some truth. They are a nice piece of kit, but very expensive. There definitely is something different about riding one compared to a metric cruiser though, something special. A lot of buyers are poseurs just looking to spend as much as possible on their new toy, but that exists in every enthusiast group I can think…
