Didn’t know this. Thanks!

Yeah, I would still have the same problem, but it wouldn’t be a symptom of systematic oppression. You don’t see women choosing for men day in and day out. If J-Law’s character had been the one to wake Pratt up, then she’d be the asshole and Pratt should be salty with her.

Yeah, let’s talk about Passengers. What the fuck - that surprised you? It also surprised my husband, another privileged, good-looking white man. “But the movie was good!” “But she forgave him!” “But it had a good ending!”

Ha! Yeah, pretty much.

We had a great protest in LA. Lots of families, kids, older people, young people, lots of different backgrounds and ethnicities and colors. Loved it.

So dismal. I had one other friend that voted. Even my husband “forgot” he was out of town and didn’t send in his absentee ballot. I would have thought that with the outrage at the November election, people would have stepped up.

Yeah - it never occurred to me that the pink was related to the color of the pussy. Thought it just meant women-power.

Correcting myself. Not white. Doesn’t matter.

So it’s late at night on the East Coast, which is probably why this isn’t updated, but LA Times is reporting an 8-year-old boy also died, and as we all guessed, it was a (white) man who was trying to kill his (estranged) wife.

Not my first thought, but yes, now I see it. I wonder if reversing it - a black child and a white mother - would make it any better. Because at that point, is it saying a white woman had to raise a black child that a black woman couldn’t?

Yes, sadistic, and possibly a control thing. If you aren’t into it, say it.

Amen to this. I had a mom in my social circle that was trying very hard to hang out with me - but then she made a comment like “I can’t believe little Mustang still gets so many colds considering you are breastfeeding. My kid doesn’t get any colds!” Not that big of a deal, but the second straw was when someone asked

Same here - white woman always reading the Root, not usually commenting.

Yep - Sessions once indicated his approval of the KKK while investigating the lynching of a young black man.

The body language of Schlapp alone - slightly turned away from Johnson - is telling enough. It’s disgusting.

Hi, Wedding Twin. We did pretty much the same. No showers, no gifts. A girls’ trip turned into a bachelorette party, but not at my request, and it was only one night of debauchery. I agreed to a “women’s party” but no gifts, which worked well. No speeches (I whipped the microphone out of my dad’s hand when he

I agree with you on thank you notes. I think it’s incredibly rude, and I love sending and receiving thank you notes. Acknowledgement is real! Even an e-mail is totally okay.

Bought my own kitchenaid. So glad I didn’t wait for a wedding for it. Also, it means I could buy the one with the stronger motor and not feel bad that it was so pricey.

I feel you. We said no gifts at our wedding, and for any birthday parties. It made me uncomfortable to have people think they had to buy us something. Plus weddings are expensive anyway - travel, clothes, childcare if you didn’t want to bring your kid - no need to make someone spend cash on a gift.

Needs more stars.
