I gave an NP just based on the fact that someone already went through the headache of importing it. To a nostalgic expat, $10k for a weekend toy is not so bad. Having said that, non-rusty runners can be found in the old country for the equivalent of $750-1k, $2500 would get you a REALLY nice one. Here is my late great

“or just the fact that some dude bros care this much about Fast and The Furious”

It’s Hatteras but not Oregon Inlet specifically, this was by Cape Point. I do know of that youtube channel, it’s a hoot.

The cover art wreaks of someone (the artist or whoever ordered the drawing) that doesn’t do a bit of wrenching. Who the hell uses an adjustable wrench on anything under the hood of their car, a Ferrari especially?

Woah 3.4L 5VZFE swap? beyond weird! If you’re going through all that trouble, I’d think a stronger 2UZ-FE or atleast 1UZ-FE would make more sense for the low end torque (although that’d limit the 5spd manual pairings), then again those might just be too physically large compared to a smaller OHV V8 like what the Rover

If the general health of the engine and transmission can be confirmed (mostly worried about head gaskets), the truck is an easy NP for a fun weekend wheeler. BFG tires with some tread left, already lifted and armored and bumper-ed and winched-up and be-snorkeled. Just the cost of those items is at least $3k if you

‘07 era 2.0T VAG with anywhere close to 100k is automatic CP no matter the price.

Around here it’s closer to $5-6k for a YJ or TJ that’s actually worth buying (not rotten and ragged out). Not sure if there was just fewer of them sold when new and now a constrained supply. If I were seriously in the market for one I’d go out west or southwest just to get a clean rust free starting point.

“that this were FWD pigs not far removed from the craptastic meh tempo that didn’t have the guts to back the looks.”

What in God’s name are you babbling about?

Probes are Mazda developed (rebodied MX-6 basically), and had an awesome KL 2.5L V6 as an option that would run with Integra GS-Rs back in the day. A 200hp KLZE

The Saab is an obvious CP, but how is a 188k mile Bronco for $8k a super obvious NP? You can find similarly rust free ones with fewer miles for about the same amount all over the country. Or pay just a bit more and get a totally immaculate collector-grade one.

188k miles for $8k? There are equally nice trucks with half the miles for about the same money or just a $1000 more all over craigslist across the country. In fact I was eye balling a supercharged one in Atlanta a few months ago for $7500 iirc. Crack Pipe from me, as much as I love these things.

In addition to the torque issue, with the 5spd Subies once you’re stuck and trying to rock and spin your way out of trouble, the lack of a low range really puts your clutch in a tough spot, as this guy found out. My brother’s friend similarly had trouble this winter in his Forester when they went snow-wheeling in PA.

How do you figure? Same classic 50/50 viscous coupling split as all (non WRX/STi) stick shift Subies. Admittedly, lack of torque from the FB20 did him no favors. Once it bogged he was just smoking his clutch trying to get out.

Passenger rear quarter on that ‘87 XJ has been seriously bondo’d over, you can see it starting to crack. I’d run, not walk, away from that one.

All seasons are actually some of the better tire options for sand, short of big balloon tires or the “paddle” ones. Aggressive All terrains and mud terrains are prone prone to just digging in. It’s never an issue of traction when driving on sand on a flat beach, it’s all about decreasing ground pressure and maximizing

Wow that’s a nice one! They’re all dangerously rusty up here, rear trailing arm seperates from the frame, there was a TSB/recall over it iirc

Not enough offroad clout me-thinks. You really need a “real” mechanical 4wd system for the sand. Yes sometimes a Subaru can sneak onto the beach with aired down tires and under the right sand moisture conditions, but the viscous couplings and such on these AWD vehicles are simply not engineered for sustained loads and

Not that cheap anymore, for anything that’s not a pile of rust held together with a bit of paint anyways.

Definitely not enough offroad clout for the beach. Seeing as even vaunted Subies sometimes don’t cut the mustard in the deeper looser stuff:

They had issues right through the end of the EJ series. My bro has replaced HGs on an ‘07 Outback and ‘09 Forester, fwiw
