Is it bad that I like this more than any other current Jeep product (certain Wrangler trims excepted)? Honest styling, straightforward interior made with decent materials (if not the best panel gaps/fit), and sturdy and simple mechanicals that lend themselves to modification.

Again, nothing nefarious, but it’s easy to see where he stands. Not the “balanced” guy he tries to come across as here, his strong political beliefs bleed into what has traditionally been a more technical section. And we see the result: many more political opinion pieces, less cool tech stuff.

Thank you for leading this thirsty soul to water Clutchman.

“why it’s too political” Are you just being obtuse at this point?
Talking about political figure heads and their relationships = political
talking about some kind of new weapons system and performance = not political

Feel free to peruse the content of his public Twitter profile, where he travels, the sorts of content he shares, the sort of company that he keeps. Not saying there’s anything necessarily nefarious going on, but his positions/leanings are quite clear.

A valid point. But the fact that there are even that many FA articles on these topics is what the problem is. If the format used to be 95% hardware/tech and 5% what could be construed as political, it is now in the realm of 60% tech 40% politics. Political opinion writing is an over-saturated space. Thoughtful

Well it’s continued discontent/negative feedback from people that miss the old format. Trolling would be me posting something simply for the sake of getting a rise out of you or Terrell or whoever else. This is truly genuine feedback and an attempt to convince the author to provide less of one type of content and

So any sort of criticism in a comments section is now simply labeled as “trolling?” Good to know, and a great way to foster discussion, eh?

As an example, here’s what’s being auto-recommended to me out of some recent FA articles:

Nothing quite like what we’ve seen with Jermaine at the helm. A quick look at his bio and connections to the current Ukrainian govt put everything in perspective for me.

FA continues its descent into mindless political rambling...

David was this prompted by my (greyed out) comment on the fat 31" tires you slapped on your project Jeep and proceeded to get stuck in the yard with? I bet the wheels/tires you took off would have allowed the jeep to remain un-stuck.

I can’t be the only one that prefers the “correct” narrow pattern tires on the stock white wheels can I? I’d be willing to bet you would not have gotten stuck on them in your back yard versus the much milder tread pattern on the larger tires you installed.

Nothing like idiots injecting politics into a perfectly benign and fun thing like NPOCP.

Easily my favorite content on Jalopnik right now! Awesome work on the repair, and kudos for going OEM. Doesn’t it just feel so good to install OEM parts? Especially on a thoroughbred like an original LS400. I had a ‘96 ES300 for a while to get me through the winter, I felt dirty installing generic Amazon Prime

“Subaru did replace the EJ25 for the FB25, but the specs haven’t changed all that much. It’s also the one that somehow magically implodes when it reaches 100,000 miles.”
Huh?

“downright awful: 8.6 seconds according to Car and Driver.”
That’s basically mid-pack in the compact CUV class, and strikes me as perfectly

“over its annexation of Ukraine”

Freudian slip? :p

The vast majority of girls are NOT impressed with rally-driver impressions in empty parking lots, they just want to get home in one piece. Steady courteous defensive driving is the way to go.

I’d prefer to keep the ground clearance, these things are real billy goats offroad. The old adage for when you go mushroom picking in the woods goes that first the Ladas stop, then the Moskvitches, and finally the Zapos make it farthest into the woods on the two tracks. We’ve seen them amazingly enough on mountain
