I’ve never heard from anyone or read any story about issues with three speed automatic transmissions that had to search for gears - you do know, right, that they were hydraulically controlled, not electronic?

Yep, you have really drank the kool-aid, that’s for sure!!

There is absolutely ZERO truth to that statement!

Yes, they really were.

Yeah, the Rabbit was one of, if not the worst, cars in that segment.

Actually, every car in that segment was ‘shit’ when the Chevette was released - but no one acknowledges that fact because so many want to dump on GM ...

Now, you can’t expect the unbridled hatred of the Chevette (that was very competive in its segment when it came out) by showcasing how the basic platform was actually hoonable, right?

Yeah, I had a loaner Chevette automatic in 1982 when my Citation was getting it’s fifteenth (don’t judge me) attempt to fix the issues that it had when delivered. I pulled out onto Haggerty Road in West Bloomfield, Michigan onto a marginally steep hill and couldn’t even get over 40 mph!

Nope - I see many Cobalts in SE Michigan to this day.

You know, you really, really need to stop attacking vehicles that you have absolutely no experience with - its getting old and makes you look pathetic!

I have four kids, thus manage a fleet of six vehicles.

People in the US tend to find DCTs highly annoying - see Ford Focus and huge number of complaints.

So - you’re asking about Toyota?

Not really true - many gears are used in multiple ratios and/or reverse.

Indians AND Asians - there are a ton of both in engineering in the US.

“ ... That thing is comically massive. ... “

“ ... 10 speed mechanic’s nightmare ... “

Europeans sue American companies all the time, not to mention huge fines that the EU puts on companies like Microsoft, et al for trumped up charges. So its not exactly a stretch to see lawsuits against VW in Europe.

I wouldn’t worry about that. GM does extensive testing of all of their vehicles with things like salt baths, then high humidity chambers, over and over again.

No, the lawyers suing GM are picking the order of the cases.
