I would counter your assessment by suggesting you’re a little out of date. Yup- GM made the shittiest cars forever. I was dramatized by that as a kid because Dad’s 81' Delta 88 and later Buick Riviera were in the shop all the damned time. I spent many a Saturday morning at the dealer ( versus watching cartoons )

I should have mentioned that I actually owned a Prius before the Volt. A 2001 actually and the only reason I got it was because my FIL passed away and we inherited it. So it was free. My attitude was hell- it was free and who knows what will happen to the battery, so might as well drive it until something major

Well.... I’m like 5 ft 7 and 145 pounds so I’m a pretty small dude and for me it was ok. But if you’re having an issue with sears and you’re more like the average American then yeah, that’s a problem, which is odd since the thing was actually designed in the US, where you’d think they would know better.

Sorry, but I cant help but feel that you don’t know a great deal about EVs or the people who buy them.

But that’s not really a compelling counter-argument. I mean if we’re talking about costs, why not just buy a 1987 Honda CRX and call it a day? People that are EV enthusiasts like things like range and the Bolt provides that. Something also just occured to me that the story failed to mention: The Bolt only came out in

The eGolf is hardly competition. Its simply a modified Golf with a mediocre EV range. And given that VW has far worse reliability issues than almost everyone else there’s no way I would buy anything from them anyway.

So far I have 100,000 miles on the Volt. Its actually been stupidly cheap to own. The engine hardly runs and I change the oil every 1.5 years. The tires, brake pads, and everything else seem to wear very minimally.

Yup. People like my parents were burned by GM... in 1984. I’m actually a first time GM owner after some 25 years of owning literally nuttin’ but Toyotas. So far 100k on my Volt and nothing to report...

I suppose you didn’t read tha part of my response comparing the old ( not the word OLD ) Volt to the new prime? Reading comprehension is key, so to say...

But the Prius Prime is only goes 25 miles on a charge. The old Volt ( I have one ) is good for 40. I actually seldom use the gas even though its 38 miles each way for me. If I owned a Prius Prime I’d be using gas every single day both ways. The new Volt goes almost 55 miles on a charge, which is even better and

The Leaf isn’t the same kind of car. It goes only about 1/3rd the distance and features a more basic air cooled battery design that over time loses charge capacity. Its a lot cheaper for a reason: Because it isn’t nearly the same car as a Bolt by a long shot.

I owned NOTHING but Toyotas for the first 25 years of driving. I too was really turned off by ANYTHING domestic- GM especially due to the crappy issues my parent’s had with theirs when I was a little kid in the early 80's.

Do me a favor: Go out and now test drive a Toyota Prius Prime. My parents own a new Prius V. I own a Chevy Volt. The difference is night and day: The interior of the Prius feels like the “bad old GM” with tons and tons of poorly fitting, squeaky plastic. Its a VERY noticeable difference.

Because consumers are sort of dumb and prone to buy from brand and model recognition than actual qualities of the said product.

Having to take time off work to go take your car in to have it fixed again and again is just as bad as anything. No thanks. VWs are garbage.

Yeah, I had one of those things. I guess I got lazy because after a few months the first one got all nasty and caked with dirt. Its still hanging in my garage!

I just pulled up their site. It hasn’t been updated in a year. Something tells me that isn’t the best sign...

I have a previously unforeseen problem keeping my Chevy Volt clean. Granted I have an awful commute that’s close to 40 miles each way and most of it is on a crappy freeway in California where when the rain stops for 6-8 months of the year gets rather dusty. But this car simply does not stay clean- ever. As in after

So does he get to keep em’ or what?

It will probably be boring as hell too
