I’ve been doing the whole EV thing for 3 years so far, but to be fair my car is a Chevy Volt, so when the juice runs out, oh well because there’s a gas engine too. But even so, I’ve gotten used to plugging the thing in and parking in strange parking spots. I live in the Bay Area anjd have an AWFUL 39 mile each way…

This car has probably another few months before it will be obsolete. For 5k more you could get a Chevy Bolt with 240 miles of range. OTOH... I bet these things will be dirt cheap used too, meaning you could have a nice, cheap, EV beater for the commute.

I’ve hated these things since they came out. Its so clear they wanted everyone to think it was a Mercedes. Just look at the grill! Absolutely no originality in the design.

How is the Bolt not a competitor? For starters the Bolt is in production... NOW. As in they started producing the actual, physical cars this month for a projected delivery time period within the next few months.

Chevy Volt owner here: Not sure I agree with the article. Most of the power I use to charge my car probably comes from power plants using natural gas. So unless something drastic happens its more that perhaps oil companies would simply re-allocate where the supply is used: power plants.

I grew up in the deep, rural south and now live in a major west coast city. The two areas could not be more different. The lives that rural Americans live are often VERY different from urban Americans live.
