I’m not sure what the point you’re making is. I was talking strictly in terms of dollars and cents. And with regard to how a hybrid is able to get the kinds of return on MPG is mostly due to wasted energy recovery via deceleration and braking and also not having an engine idling at very stop sign.

Well... the entirety of our commute is freeway. The Civic got something like 28-30MPG. The Prius 48-52MPG. Start adding up the years and the math works out in favor of the Prius.

I’ve not heard anything about head gasket issues with the engine used in the Volt. Not saying that doesn’t happen but on the Volt Forum I’ve never seen this come up.

We did the same thing 2 years ago. We bought a loaded-to-the-gills model with heated seats and the whole nine yards for 17k with 29k on the clock. I’m guessing maybe because the name “Chevy” doesn’t carry the same cachet’ as Toyota, BMW or whatever that the value of these drop like a rock almost as soon as they roll

Let’s set a few things straight because there are a lot of myths about batteries out there and have been for years.

I’ve had both and yes, they can and do pay off.

And you know, they actually look pretty nice too. In fact these days its I’d say the Accord looks better than the Acura lineup.

I’d love to see a 70 liter V8. Can you imagine? Each cylinder would be the size of the entire car.

Yeah, exactly. I rented a Cruz a few years ago and even though I absolutely floored it everywhere I was still getting around 38MPG.

So exactly how should they behave then? Should they instead come out and say- oh hey... we have this car, and it gets ho-hum fuel economy...

So.... what was your point? The Cruz is in lock-step competition with the Civic and the Corolla, has similar specs, pricing, and fuel economy. Should we all be shocked?

Stupid cell phone texting...

I get what he means though. Her statement smells of snobbish elitism.

Its a 3D model. Let’s actually see a functiong car. Then we can talk about it.

Makes sense. The model T was designed fur American roads of the time... Which meant they needed to be able to basically do the same off-roading all those weekend off roaders do on a daily basis.

Nuttin’ says luxury like having a nice shiny piece of plumbing running down your arm rest...

There are now a whole shit-ton of luxury SUVs that look almost identical to one another. Big sneakers on wheels basically.

Nope....

A growing number of people are going against nuclear actually. This tends to coincide with better understanding of just what nuclear power entails, which as I mentioned the long term storage liabilities that comes with it, the cleanup costs, and the ever present -albeit unlikely accident.

What do liberals have to do with nuclear energy? And as far as safety, I’d suggest reading about the still ongoing effects from chernoby. 30 years later and thousands of square miles of land surrounding that plant are uninhabitable. That’s just one plant and that plant was out in the middle of nowhere. A single
