The article above indicates they are dropping everything to focus on EVs. That to me doesn't sound ... Chill

My point was a response to the assertion that EVs and plugin hybrids are more simple, which they most certainly are not: they have entirely different systems that are on themselves vastly complicated. It is ignorant to suggest that an EV just by virtue of being electric is less complex or less prone to problems

Please feel free to come and take a peek under the hood of my Volt and “laugh” at how “Trivial” it is. Oh and BTW, while we’re on the subject, take a gander at this:

I would suggest you go take a look at some of the photos and diagrams that have come out lately just for the Bolt alone. Your answer more or less demonstrates a lack of understanding when it comes to EV drivetrains.

Yeah. Just get a jet engine and stick wheels on it.

The case you mentioned of the Volt’s battery catching fire was well-covered, partciularly by many right winger media outlets. You were totally wrong in stating that the battery caught fire “During” a crash test. I don’t blame you for misunderstanding this as the story was misconstrued.

The Volt did not have mechanical or safety issues. Either way, we are done here.

I responded to probably 3 of this same response, of which you can read as a reply.

Let me put it to you this way as someone who owned a Prius and now a Volt: The shop manual for the Prius was over 2,000 pages long and of that, there was an entire other manual just for the electrical system. Secondly, just because something is “electric” doesn’t just automatically mean that it will be more reliable.

VAG needs to be taking bigger risks if they want people to think they’re serious here. Back when GM introduced the Volt the company had a legacy of poor products, they were about to go bankrupt, and in the public’s eye they made nothing but huge trucks and SUVs. The Volt could have been marketed as a Cadillac, Buick,

Well, as I had mentioned in a number of responses so far Audi isn’t the brand from VAG that needs to have its image repaired. If VAG in general wants to repair its tarnished image than it would make far more sense to do so with the brand fronting the diesel scandal: VW.

That’s a fairly gross genralization. EV’s can be just as and often more complex than a traditional ICE vehicle. Have you looked at just how insanely complicated the transmissions and dual clutching systems used on many EVs are? Oh and don’t forget the batteries themselves, which are not only extremely delicate and

.... which would make sense if VAG itself wasn’t under huge scrutiny from the public’s perspective. They are in brand damage control and Audi is not the brand that needs repairing.

I’m basing this off of VAG’s tendency to overcomplicate things which in turn leads to issues. Its not just that we’re talking about ICE versus EV systems in general but the overall culture behind their engineering.

But VAG isn’t a new company and the public face of their organization is in fact VW. And so if you want to restore the tarnished reputation of your brand... might as well do so with the brand that currently represents the face of then scandal.

First of all.... an all-electric Audi? Yeah, that’ll be super reliable. All jokes aside, a few things:

Usually the puns only go for 3-4 in a row. This must be a record.

I still hate seeing this. I would’ve much, much rather have seen the car sold back overseas instead of being crushed. A total waste.

Its ok. This is a complicated subject.
