I loved my Grandad and since he was in his 90’s he was free to say whatever the hell he wanted in my book. But he was the MOST annoying passenger.

The numbers you showed are honestly chicken feed for these companies. Its not like a multi-billion dollar company making billions a year is somehow going to be toppled by a few million dollars in fines. Something interesting to note is that over time the fines have dramatically fallen, probably indicating those

Explain how they are being “Punished”. The manufacture simply makes adjustments to their portfolio of offerings and STILL sell those coveted V8’s.

I really like the way this thing looks. The interior is totally implausible. But the exterior design is one of the best takes I've seen on a crossover. Too bad they don't sell this brand in the US.

They aren’t being “Punished” for selling V8’s. Fleet averaging means that the combined total fuel economy for a particular car manufacture’s output- all models- has to collectively meet that target. If there are those who love their V8’s they should be thanking those who buy EV’s for taking up the slack in regards to

That’s such an old argument. First of all the electrical grid has diversified fuel sources. Sure. It uses coal. But it also increasingly uses natural gas. That and hydroelectric, solar, nuclear and so on. Many of those burn cleaner and are cleaner to produce than gasoline. Secondly those plants are highly regulated.

You're making an assumption that everyone wants the kind if cars you like, such as V8 muscle cars. That's obviously not the case and there are plenty if others like me who'd take an all electric car with an extended range over some pushrods V8. The Camry is the best selling car in the US so I suppose it's true most

Oh wow. So there’s like a $20,000 import duty on it? Suddenly it becomes a expensive car.

I’m an American guy, but out of curiosity- would Germans actually care about this car? Seems to me anytime I talk to Europeans they seem to enjoy trash talking our cars. Like they are time capsules from the 70’s, junky and falling apart. Either that or impossibly huge and inappropriate for nimble European streets.

.90...

They were pretty close...

that makes more sense: A German brand car. Not so much with this car.

Those lights were cool but when they broke what a major pain in the ass. What would happen is that the wires going to them would fatigue and eventually short out. There was a way to manually raise them up but one time it did this it was absolutely pouring rain and 11:00 at night. Popup lights were indeed stupid.

You started by saying it isn’t about the design. Sorry but my split-second first reaction was that the design was awful. To me it looks like a design that’s trying wayyyyy too hard. There exists no elegance, no real design language or even what I’d consider Lexus design DNA here. First and foremost- that grill. Its

They aren’t planning on selling these in Germany anyways right? So not sure why the magazine would feature the car. PS: I wish I was driving that thing, looked fun as hell

Yeah, you’re pretty much right on. I’m 37 but I swear I need controls to be more like something an elderly person needs. For example my microwave has a shit ton of controls I never use nor know what they’re supposed to do. I think they’re suggestions for things like taters and popcorn. I never use them. I just press

The one thing the did get right was the energy usage displays. Those make a lot of sense and are much easier to understand than the prius we owned before. As far as the AC and heat system have you noticed that the system isn’t exactly responsive? I’ll turn up the heat and I feel nothing. Just sort of a vagueness.

The dumb thing is that I never use like 90% of the controls in the Volt. I don’t use any of the onstar stuff, and none of the nav stuff. The worst is the AC and air controls. No clue why the fan speed control is all the way over to the right. I use that one more than anything so it should be next to me. I also don’t

yes, but the problem is that there are so many buttons on the center console and most are at a level where I have to look down to see them. Impossible to do while driving.

Yeah, even in mine its almost impossible to lean over and crank the windows. Can’t say mine is quite inside. Its more like the inside of a tin can with the wind noise. 245,000 miles so far and it has started to drip a little oil from one of the valve covers which I’ve been too lazy to fix.
