Yeah you have to buy the Subaru by default, But Subaru has better leather seats and fit and finish in my opinion.
No that's the problem is nothing Royal about it! It needs rebadged to a Toyota GT 86 so it's not a kids car anymore. The Scion brand hurts the value of the car and a lot of the build quality of the car.
So All in all this is more like "the Mayo on the fries", just not healthy and sad for a potentially nice cool car.
