I've had a RROD once, and still have a YLOD. Microsoft did a pretty awesome job of fixing theirs, but I'm on my own with the YLOD. But yeah, nothing more momentum killing than a complete shutdown.

Looks like I need to get my butt in gear for repairing my YLOD, then start downloading the crap out of my PS3.

It's a trade off. Micro has much better customer service, but you pay for online access. Sony has free online access, but if your PS devices mess up you're probably not going to get any help. Even when it's still in warranty.

Yeah, Sony can really screw up sometimes. I have a YLOD that they won't repair for free, or at all, and then all this PSN crap happened. But I'm not going to pay for something on Xbox when it's free on PS3. Just doesn't make sense.
