If you're a customer and are taking out or depositing money in relation to the trade you're probably ok with smaller items. I'd bet it's an issue if you do it every week with larger items and aren't using the teller.

Or just spend it right away. At BoA you can deposit cash at the ATM without an envelope - I'm curious how well it checks for counterfit bills.

A block of wood has differences in grain, moisture, worm/bug holes, knots, warp and rot that all change the consistency - some are stronger some are weaker. You have not way of really knowing if you've got a weak spot located right where you need the most strength...
