Don’t know about Maryland, but I bought (and registered) my truck in Nebraska. A year later I registered it in South Dakota. They have a 3% excise fee (one-time property tax) that was waived for me. Kudos to point out that there is a financial incentive to have game reserves and cultivated habitats. I think Uhaul has the same stance with Jeeps (possibly just Wranglers) for the reasons you mentioned. Also, totally agree, especially with swaying. A flatbed trailer will usually sway less than a fifth-wheel camper, due to a higher CG. It’s even more pronounced in crosswinds.

Sometimes cash flow overrules everything else. I’d rather have 8K in the bank for emergencies and have a cheap monthly payment that I can escalate, rather than have $500 in the bank, no loan, but possibly have to sell the vehicle to meet unforeseen financial obligations (AKA: we done goofed)
