The home console has been available since the early 70s, or about 40 years ago, and the controllers were rather simple: often a knob and a button. I assumed we were talking about home console and computer games, so I wasn't considering anything akin to Higinbotham's "Tennis for Two" of 1958, or Douglas's "OXO" of

I mentioned wages because you said American society was 100% accommodating, and it is not. I only used that extreme example to point out your extreme example. In any given profession where men are working as much as women it's more like 5%. But, we can disregard it, as it has nothing to do with games.

Hello again,

My non-gamer friends find the whole business intimidating and full of imminent failure. They think they will be bad at it, and assume it requires some innate skills.

This isn't an official way to learn, but to supplement your study Cruncyroll.com has lots of anime you can watch in Japanese for free.

Happy Birthday! Can I interest you in some vintage Kaketaku?

I seem to only find dubbed anime :( They have a good amount of TV from many different stations, it just sort of depends on the show. Many are available through discs if they aren't available for instant streaming. The list is always changing. To my knowledge, they do not keep a comprehensive list that you can browse.

This is a perfect distinction. I wish I had promoting powers.

I agree. If they are going to beat you over the head with their womanhood, they might as well just make it a guy in the first place.

It would help if we had some non-gaming females around, to let us know why they aren't playing...

"It's a man's world, but it wouldn't be nothing without a woman or a girl/ He's lost in the wilderness, lost in the bitterness"

Biology?

It is good of Kotaku to include this list where they were negatively mentioned, but it would be nice for them to give a quasi-serious response. The guy writing the list is a bit over-passionate, but I think its a tone of disappointment. I think it's fair to say Kotaku isn't quite as lovable as it used to be. Sure, it

cheap and comes early, but not disappoting

I find the reasoning a bit suspicious too. I'd rather them say, "Its a dying media, we don't care, but we do like selling you proprietary discs for our game systems."

I believe it's reasonable to say they people don't need another DVD player, but... people don't need another Wii either. I think people expected the next Nintendo console to include one, whether they need it or not. Should they have just made an awesome new accessory handheld (that you can only get one of anyway) and

Man... Nintendo really knows how to sell me something that I already have.

Seems likely that the 3DS may add an included game or other freebie by the time Vita is released, to make it more competitive.

I wonder if they added the 3D late for this one, since it will be released on every other system on Tuesday. Hopefully Lego Pirates won't have the same problems.

Oh, I see now. I was on the UK site, which is still on Mountain time.
