I don’t think it’s safe to assume ISIS is ideologically weak. An Al Jazeera poll found that 81% of Arabic poll respondents supported ISIS, a poll in the US found 38% support, and a British poll found 50% support. That’s a lot more than a fringe movement. Plus, it already controls a huge territory.
