Because they both have identical big fake teeth, it gives me a “androids made at the same factory” vibe. Humans typically have variance in their smiles/teeth, so when I see those big, square, inhumanly perfect veneers it creeps me out, like I’m looking at a robot doing it’s best to simulate a human mouth. YMMV.

My understanding of what uncanny valley means is when looking at a simulation of a human being (such as an android) that is close enough to appear human but just misses the mark in an unsettling way. Is there a different way of defining it?

Oh I dunno. Other images I saw of them just smiling at each other were even worse- they have the exact same teeth and it feels very uncanny valley to me. I think gross tongue stuff might be preferable to Clone Mouths.
