On top than obsolescence and covid, 2 things really sped up bad times for Japanese arcades: no smoking rule, and (more importantly!) the new 10% VAT rule for game centers. Before, no VAT was collected on 100 coins game. Now, it is like for every 100 yen game, 90 yen are actually earned by the game center.

An with this, all the MS fanboys’ arguments making fun of Apple’s 19$ cloth are definitely dead

Sure, but what the original thread creator asked, was just some “check-ins” once in a while to update the backers about how the project was going. And it is a quite fair request, imho...
Of course, for large projects a PR is always a good idea (and for a project this big, with this budget... it surprised me they didn’t

Well, you just need to write an update once a month or two. It is literally 20 minutes of your time. You don’t need a PR for that...

This article is probably the lowest point in Kotaku history...

It is spelled “Mamma mia”

No way a +2000 pieces set may cost 50 or 60€. Not even 100€.

About the Famicom is debatable imho, because the grey NES feels really iconic. But about the SNES, for me the Japanese/Pal design was waaaay better than the purple design, yes...

Absolutely. Such a brilliant game. I was bummed when it didn’t win GOTY

Rift Apart was a nice and easy Platinum (I only spent about 12 hours for getting it...) but technically, it does have a missable trophy. (The blue crystals one)

I’m checking the official Olympic spirit programme, and it doesn’t say you can’t be a “right wing nationalist” if you are involved in the Olympics. A lot of countries in the world are run by “right wing nationalists”, yet they are allowed to join the Olympics.

Kojima is from 1963 (and actually MG1 was released in 1987), so he was talking about 1987 #corrections

Nope... there are literally hundreds of MSX models. The company produced the most of them is Philips.

If you play with friends/locals, you can use proxies. You will actually use your P9 cards only if you actually do tournaments, and Vintage tournaments are rare (even rarer now, due to covid). But many Vintage players are not into tournaments, btw...
That said...
If I owned a full P9 and a deck as valuable as a nice

40k is way too cheap for a Vintage P9 deck... I know someone who recently got a 70k euro offer for his P9 alone (he declined it). And you have to count other expensive stuff for a deck like dual lands etc.

Jet Jaguar is top tier...?

I do agree tho, complaining about capitalism on a video game site is silly.

Well, if you already have a fridge in your house, this one will consume way more energy than led lights on a pad etc.

The first Mario+Rabbids game was made almost entirely in Ubisoft Milan, and not Paris.

“I would like to correct a misunderstanding for the sake of Miura-sensei’s reputation. People seem to be falsely assuming he was living a terrible life based on some end-of-the volume comments that were made over two decades ago,” Kurosaki wrote.
