I liked the “revenge fantasy” films but glad he’s back to this. An homage to The Thing looks amazing

I thought about this all day. I wonder if one of the universal signals of collapse is the abandonment/destruction of newborns. Feel like we’re there in a big way.

Really great episode and great season. Next season I hope the go “Game of Thrones” and let the main characters spread out over the country and follow their interconnected stories.

Now playing

Current: I’m digging The Leftovers new opening sequence.

I really, really like this show and can’t wait to see it go live.

Like Firefly, T:SCC was a show that Fox didn’t know what it had... how could they make the same mistake twice? To paraphrase Jerry Seinfeld...

Wow. Really good point about Anna.

No Culture.

Paraphrase, “Nations don’t protect forests, forests protect nations.” Bruce Sterling

It’s cute how the Brit thinks that car covered any kind of steep descent or ascent. Picture of what my Subaru drives monthly. Subarus are made for the Rocky Mountains.

“Victory Condition” is always a myth. Dick’s story was perfect on that note... not sure about the show. It seems something else/less.

There should be a new rule in Hollywood that for every POS like this, they must add an additional 20% of the budget to give to a different crew and let them create a “companion” piece, but more edgy, more upped, and more interesting. Egypt is a fascinating place, full of fascinating people, full of fascinating myths.

Look to Windward... so good. All so good. I reread Player of Games recently, to start the whole thing over again and loved it just as much as the first time, but I don’t think that’s the Culture book to start with. I totally disagree about Jackson or Del Toro though, I love them both, but I’d rather see The Wachowskis

I meant Matter, but Surface works too.

Awesome question. Iain Banks — Surface — and directed by either Christopher Nolan or, wait for it, James Cameron.

Ideally the show would be set at Star Fleet Academy. “Harry Potter” the series as year by year and then eventual posting. Have it be part “Paper Chase” part “DareDevil” and you have a winner. At the Academy you can have exchange moments with Vulcan Science Academy and Klingon Warrior Camp AND be able to travel back in

Loved the books. To me the the underlying theme of how we separate kids from the souls via religion/education is a powerful theme and glad to see the remake. The Daniel Craig movie was on my top ten lists of movies that deserved a sequel...

I’m sure people have covered this better and more pointedly than I can in a few sentences... but those were not Star Trek movies. There was nothing “Trek” about them. It honestly made me wonder if JJ “Good Times” Abrams had ever actually watched Star Trek, much less loved it. (I think he admitted he hadn’t and didn’t)
