who knows how the force works tbh it’s literally space magic lmao. but i’m always looking for ways to decouple ‘just born that way’ narratives from power fantasy. so that’s how i saw johnson’s ideas at play in the film. on a rewatch, it seemed to hold up too, so it just stuck with me.

so for me, i never put much stock in broom boy, but i see the appeal. i think that what johnson was trying to go for (and certainly how i interpreted it) was that when luke died — when the last skywalker knight died — he wanted star wars to move beyond the stories of ‘gatekeeping’ the force. he didn’t want people to

It was a great Star Wars movie that pushed the franchise in new directions and gave an even broader perspective on what Star Wars could be. You just wanted more of the same and you didn’t get it. Bummer for you. He has every right to be proud of his movie and he should be. I’m happy for him. And despite some people wh

I adore it and it’s my favorite Star Wars film. Your opinion isn’t objectively right and only a contrarian or a ten year old thinks otherwise. Soy drinking? Disney loyalist? Take your sad puppy nonsense to someone who cares. The most resolute, perpetually online TLJ-truthers are men who are too young to have seen the

this is such a rude comment lol wow

i don’t think it’s an edge lord remake of esb... like i see the similarities, but there’s no critique where tlj = esb but bad that can’t be made for 7 or 9 when compared to 4 or 6 you know? like it’s the nature of star wars to be repetitive. i don’t think it’s particularly clever storytelling, but i think i really

u can pry grizzled mean old man luke from my cold dead hands!! i love him!!!! the kylo and rey fight scene?? wonderful. dumb. amazing. i loved it. poe, an idiot?? exactly what i want. holdo? perfection. stunning. glittering.

Blazing Saddles got away with some stuff that’s problematic by today’s standards.”

“Christina Ricci, the original Wednesday Addams”

Please, please checkout the version that Melissa Hunter did. (She got slapped by the estate for it though, unfortunately)

I finally realized that’s one of the things I dislike about Disco and Picard, you have to watch them in order.

Pike joins the show in season 2 and is present throughout just that the season, while Spock appears a bit later and Number One is not used much.

Oh dear Guardian of Forever I hope not.  I don’t want to base my expectations on this based on Disco.

Oh lord, can you imagine if Jimmy Carter had won reelection and we had never got Ronald Reagan? The United States might not be in such dire straits now. Sure, we would have never gotten Transformers or He-Man, but that's a price I'm willing to pay.

I remember posters for the movie that only had the movie initials “JC” I’m sorry Disney, but when I read those initials, the JC I think off is a very different guy.

I was playing Cyberpunk 2077 last week and got to thinking how much I would love to see a movie of Neuromancer, but the ideal window to adapt the novel was somewhere between 1986 and 1994. After that you started to see its influence in all sorts of media, even stuff like Hackers, reaching an apotheosis with The Matrix.
