I use my PS4--the problem is the top of our new TV is too narrow to balance anything on. A friend gave me a clip on camera, but I haven’t set it up yet.

The PS3 remaster is actually the one I’m playing. It’s not ideal (the impression I have is that the fog looks a lot better in the original), but it still plays well enough, and works for someone like me who’s never played the game on the original hardware.

Yeah, the Metroidvania stuff was over-sold; there are a few upgrades, but they come very slowly. At least with a Souls game, you can level up to meet a challenge.

The column has reminded me that I got a VR headset last year and uh haven’t used it in um a bit. (Hey, it’s not my fault that it’s hard to get the camera set up on our new TV.)

I had the Dark Half game growing up, and I’ll always remember it as “that game where I couldn’t get more than fifteen minutes into it without it crashing and I still don’t know why.”

That’s an excellent pick, and yeah, should’ve been on the list. Thanks!

...dammit I can’t say “Aw, thanks” again, but I really appreciate the consideration.

oh man I really hope Dicey Dungeons comes to the Switch soon so I can just lose 20 to 500 hours on it.

I, too, am not a huge fan of bounce pads, but you get used to ‘em after a while.

This is making me nostalgic for the five minutes i tried playing Pokemon Go. Oh wait, no it isn’t.

No, that’s definitely part of my concern. I also tend to get bored quickly--I recognize that some games have systems that are worth learning, but it has to really grab me to make me put in the time. Honestly, it’s very likely that I’ll at least try to play RDR2 at some point (it’s just such a big game it would be

Yeah, that’s fair. I wasn’t trying to suggest that my opinion was somehow fact! I’m mostly just confused because I really liked the first one.

I don’t think I’m ever going to play Red Dead Redemption 2. Everything people say about it—even when they’re being positive—just makes me wince.

If I do end up doing more of them, it will be solely to see that other final boss.

I’m getting to the end of new (to me) Bloodborne content, which is sort of bumming me out. The DLC is legitimately fantastic, and I think it supplants Artorias of the Abyss as my favorite DLC of the series—it’s just such a great arc from beginning to end, and I loved all the boss fights. (Well, except Laurence. Fuck

Huh, interesting! I will continue to find them “basically magic” in context, but that’s good to know, thank you.

Yeah, I’ve heard so much about them at this point that I’m definitely nervous.

“being better than a fifty+ year old show with a shit budget” isn’t really a hurdle to be proud about clearing, but yes, this is preferable to the “wait is this racist?” look of the original series. (Unless you’re referring to the later series, which--well, I respectfully disagree but I won’t argue the point.)
