The part that also disgusts me with this story is that the shitbag cop had just been sworn in to the position hours before he shot and killed an unarmed black teenager. It’s like this piece of garbage was itching to murder a black man way before even thinking of becoming a pig with a badge.
I’m glad Coogler got a person of color to direct, at least. This is how industry power starts and manifests. Hopefully he’ll be executive producing soon and his tree forms many branches full of creatives of color.
I hope it’s good, but without Ryan Coogler directing I don’t think it will be. Certainly not as good as Creed.
Why are they shooting a people running away. Lawmakers need to pressured to make this police practice illegal and a criminal offense. There’s no point to it. At all.
“fired at the fleeing suspects”
Do these pigs not read the news? Even if I were a racist white cop, I would see these kids running away and be like, “I want to shoot, but IT HAS BEEN ALL OVER THE NEWS AND I WILL GO VIRAL so I better not shoot.”
I support all of these holidays, but did you want Black Excellence Day and Melanin Madness Day to both be on March 1st? Why not move Melanin Madness Day to March 2nd and extend Black History Month to 30 (or 31) days?
With all these. Is there a consideration for a national spades day?
So beautifully written, sir. Keep up the good work and I’ll keep working to shame dark people into going to the polls on election day.
Yep. Michael, don’t think for a minute you aren’t making a difference. I know you write to show and expose. But it does resonate. It has opened my eyes. Glad to be alienated and left out. Not going to quietly think it’s enough to sit and say nothing any longer.
I feel like a broken record, because I so often say this on your articles, but this is brilliant. And it is shattering, and I wish that everyone would read it.
I hope there’s a soundtrack available for this season as well. I still keep Season 1 in my workout rotation.
I watched 2 or 3 episodes and the constant “I have something super-important to tell her but she won’t answer and I won’t text a warning!” shenanigans was too irritating for me.
As long as they don’t replace a truly awesome and compelling villain with a chundering moron in the last half of the season, I’ll be happy.
Looking forward to viewing this. Hopefully this season will be very successful and lead to several more and movie appearances.
The first season was absolutely the best of not just the Netflix Marvel properties, but Marvel period. So looking forward to the second season and watching Misty Knight break down a crime scene.
And the soundtracks already on Spotify! Sweet Christmas!
How does it compare to season 1? I love Luke Cage and the casting of the show is fantastic, but aside from Cottonmouth I found the first season to be pretty boring. Hoping it’s more that the show improves, rather than it’s just not for me?
I’ve been floored by how they have transformed some of Cage’s more....problematic comic heavies into real, substantial threats with a rich inner life. Mariah Dillard is the greatest example...how does it get better than Alfrie Woodard?
