1000% agreed - I hated nothing more than watching Ronnie and Sammi’s abusive relationship. Meanwhile The Sitch was more like a harmless PUA wannabe.

Right? What did it do fly in front of a bullet for someone? House was on fire and squawked to wake everyone then went back into the buring building for the cat?

That was my first thought. They had it for two years and are giving some vague mystical “death angel comes near” explanation?

African Greys are meant to live for 60 years or more.... What the hell did they do to that parrot?!

This random post about a bird seems as good a place as any to point out that kinja is a total fucking disaster in ways that make the bad ol’ days of gross porn gifs being “in the black” look like a well oiled machine. It is literally impossible for me to respond to people in the gray in threads, or to respond to posts

People with mental illnesses can and do still live out their lives and receive help without being under a guardianship, which is for those with severe cognitive impairments like advanced dementia. The article even laid out other options that should have been considered before making this permanent. That Spears has a

People have been commenting, on this and other posts, that if Britney Spears does have a serious mental illness, then she does need the help. It’s important to remember that just because a person needs help, it doesn’t mean they should be declared permanently helpless. There’s a big difference between the two. I don’t

Disagree. I work on an ACT team and people on community treatment orders or on probation can be mandated to take their meds. This includes getting hauled down to a hospital by police for a forced injection. What is happening to Britney Spears is brutal and unjust, but it pisses me off ppl act like this is an anomaly

I will never understand how the judge who approved the conservatorship, Reva Goetz, came to the conclusion that Jamie Spears would be an appropriate conservator for his daughter. In The New York Times article about the case, it was clear that the man barely had his own life together and was definitely not a good

Bill Cosby isn’t an alleged rapist. He was convicted and freely admitted it was true. His case was overturned because of procedural errors, not a lack of guilt.

I guess I’m dating that divorced dad from Long Island I went on one date with last October. Mike or possibly Matt... The love of my life... Call me back...

I agree about dress codes loosely but also acknowledge that if I go into a place of worship (even as a None who is a total heathen), I do respect the dress code out of respect for the place. That does not mean I go to religious places a lot.  But if a friend is getting married in a Muslim ceremony and everyone will be

State-funded travel would seem to include sports travel for California’s public universities, as the coaches/trainers/etc. would be state employees.

So no football road games at Idaho, Idaho St., Montana or Montana State for conference rivals Sacramento State, UC Davis, or Cal Poly. No UCLA basketball games in Kansas,

“The economic coercion demonstrated by California” is that free market that the GOP are always touting until it doesn’t work in their favor.

Yep. College sports and academic conferences. The UC and CSU systems are huge and fund a lot of academics to travel to conferences. When states do this it puts pressure on academic organizations to not plan conferences in states with bans. I’m on a conference committee for one such organization and plans for a

State travel can affect university employees too. We (NC) are on California’s no-fly list because of the bathroom bill from several years back, and it can make it hard for our fellow researchers to come here for conferences/project meetings.

A shockingly large amount, at least from a WV perspective. Because of the bullying efforts of Byrd, a LOT of national centers are actually in WV (the FBI center, for instance). They host a lot of national events/training/that sort of thing. This is going to have a huge negative impact on WV... and it damn well should.

“States should not penalize other states because of policy differences

“Don’t like it?  Then don’t come!  Wait, where’d you all go?”

Sorry, Patrick Morrisey is absolutely wrong. Of course states should “vote with their wallet” in banning state funded travel to states that implement heinous policies.
