We had to say it in school in the 90s and early aughts. There was not an opt-out option. (WNY)
I teach/taught in private schools (CA and NY) and we don’t do the pledge anymore - it’s been replaced with a land acknowledgement.

I don’t know that she needs to solve the issue in order to bring attention to the fact that discriminating against people with mental illness is gross and candidates probably shouldn’t do it.

Okay, so this is NOT an excuse for why people have treated Meghan shittily - I fully believe she’s been treated poorly by both the British royal family and the public, and that racism has been a huge factor.

Has anyone read Casey Hammer’s memoir?  She’s Armie Hammer’s aunt and I read that book in one day.  It’s horrifying but explains so much.
