“There are romantic undertones to other characters’ support conversations, but you’re not going to be playing matchmaker.”

Aaaaand I’m officially disappointed about the whole romance aspect already.

Matchmaking characters, seeing their personalities bouncing off each other and pairing them according to who I thought

Geez! They’re trying the Clone Saga AGAIN?!

lol

You know directors have little to no control over the marketing strategy, right?

And in any case, it doesn’t really matter. Even if the marketing didn’t highlight Shinkai’s involvement, the fame he got after “Your Name” makes it practically impossible for people to NOT to be aware of it.

But ultimately, the biggest problem is that Weathering With You has is this: it’s the follow up to Your Name. Thankfully, the next film won’t have that issue.”

Wasn’t that EXACTLY what Shinkai feared?

He was concerned that people were over-praising “Your Name”, partly because he didn’t deem it to be THAT good, but also

Yeez, thank God!

Children characters worked in “Awakening”, but the time travel mechanics that made them work is one of those things that can only work once. However, they had to shoehorn them in “Fates” basically”because Awakening did it”, and boy did it work horribly wrong there!

Glad that IS realized that. Better

So... basically a gender-reverse “Idol Master” or “Love Live”, right?

How was this NOT a thing YEARS earlier? lol

Yeah, you mentioned the “S word”. The problem with subtlety is that way too many people seem to consider it one of, if not THE mark of good writing.

But here’s a dirty little secret: subtlety is a tool, not an end.

Yeah, I’ve been noticing this for years.

“Spider-Man” is, at the end of the day, a melodrama. I know that for a lot of people, specially academic types, melodrama is inherently “bad art”, but I’ve always called BS on that. It’s just a descriptive term that offers a type of experience that resonates with a lot of

PRECISELY if you see them side by side is when you can see there are way too many differences. I’m not saying it needs to be 1:1, but this is 1:10 at best.

It’s specially jarring when you remember there are other reproductions in the game that are way more accurate than this, like Lon Lon Ranch and Spectacle Rock.

Honestly, I just don’t see it. The whole thing feels more like a confirmation bias driven hot take than an actual observation.

There are WAAAAAAAAAAY too many differences when compared to the similarities to make it feel like an actual reproduction of Outset Island.

There is some overlap between “Metroid” and the Zelda series (Not only “Ocarina of Time”. Literally ALL OF IT, except perhaps the NES original and “Breath of the Wild”).

But you can’t really consider them the same genre, since Zelda still had other elements that Metroidvanias lacked: side-quests, towns and NPCs, the

Sorry, but no. By that logic, then Link suddenly stopped being playable in “Majora’s Mask” every time he put on one of the transforming masks, given that they put Link in the bodies of the people whom those masks represented.

Link is still the one moving those bodies, just the same Zelda is the one moving the Phantom

Oh, come on, that’s hair-splitting at best. That’s still playable Zelda. Maybe she doesn’t have the skills that you or I ideally wanted, but you are still controlling her, not the phantoms.

By the same logic, Medli and Makar weren’t really playable in TWW due to the whole baton thing.

Not to mention that (SPOILER ALERT)

Yeah, I gotta agree with the main point.

Even if they change “love” from “like”, the intention is clearly romantic. Even if out of context the line may be feel like it’s losing the romantic intention, the non-verbal storytelling doesn’t really leave any room for debate.

However, I would like to deviate from the topic a

Trust me, it’s gotten worse since the early 2000s.

Like much... MUCH worse.

Specially on YouTube (although this may be because it’s the platform I actually use. I don’t use MAL or Reddit), where it’s shockingly rare to find successful reviewers who AREN’T self-centered, condescending and judgemental pricks.

Nowadays, the

Yeah, that puzzle was a pretty obvious rip off from “Trace Memory”.

Not that it was necessarily a bad thing, though. That puzzle was really awesome.

Spirit Tracks, which launched two years later with similar controls, wasn’t quite as successful, but also wasn’t as good.”

... Wot?

“Spirit Tracks” blows “Phantom Hourglass” out of the water in every possible way. It’s not even a contest.

For starters, they fixed the god-awful Temple of the Sea King, particularly by not

They need to save it for those sweet, sweet DLC costumes.

Oh, god...

My condolences to those close to him.

I only watched his reaction videos, which were a joy to watch. When he was actively excited about it, it was contagious in the best way possible.

And, unlike other “fake” reaction videos, even if he wasn’t personally excited about what he was seeing, he knew how to make

She sounds... off...

Did they change her Japanese voice actress too?
