Most phones have an accessibility mode for extreme dimming of the screen. Even though I don't have a disability, I assigned the mode to a triple-click of my home button on the iPhone. I imagine it would help to at least alleviate their problem.

My last 2 went in about 3 months of use. And that is just household work
Those batteries better have more than the 90 days warranty that Dewalt offers on most of their batteries. Dewalt makes some good tools generally, but Dewalt batteries tend not to last very long in my experience. And I’m not just talking about reduced battery life, although that’s an issue too. They tend to die…

Not getting the promo on the dash cam. You have 2 different codes, and neither work

Corporate lawyer? What in the hell are you talking about? What “governments?” Local, state, and federal, throughout the US (see e.g. Florida statutes)
Nonsense? That’s exactly the reasoning for the exception, and it’s very common throughout governments in the United States. Please do some research into the law before you judge others
Here, I agree they are stretching it way too far. This is specifically talking about what to say to the public. However, there are reasons why intra-agency discussions should sometimes be exempt. We want people within an agency to be speaking candidly with one another on possible problems. But again, agencies take…
To be fair, the exception generally makes some sense. You want people within an agency to be talking to each other openly. Allowing every internal deliberation to be second-guessed will just cause an agency to turn further inward and lead to greater inefficiencies.
What’s wrong with having a narrow focus? Doing something well is what should be important.
You expect it to come up tangentially here and there, but it should not be a focus here. It seems like a lot of writers here come up with a political or policy argument and just use some minor tech aspect as a hook. To the extent some story relevant to the core mission has a political aspect to it, for example, the…
I like a lot of what’s on gizmodo and io9, but I wish you guys would step away from politics, policy, and personal attacks. Just focus on your core and I think you will survive, possibly outside of gawker when it’s all said and done.
Yeah, that part of the text is unquestionably relevant. Not sure that there could be a legitimate excuse to leave it out
Why is it that people always feel the need to sensationalize in regards to climate science? Arctic ice is nowhere near “the lowest in history”, as the headline states. Anyone who is not a moron knows it is nonsense, and therefore immediately puts the credibility of the post, and its author, in question to say the…
Well then, I suppose it is notable in the history of iOS, just not in the way Apple would have liked to see
I thought swift and metal were a big deal for developers?
The supports alone are a heavy loss. I would have thought the figure would be higher actually
Another big one (although it goes beyond settings alone) is to use encrypted backups on local storage, rather than in iCloud. iCloud is incredibly convenient, but for the privacy types the old-fashioned way is the better choice
I think most airports have gates that, in theory, would drop down and prevent them from getting into a secure area if it comes to that. But ideally, it seems to me that they would try to pretend they didn’t notice anything and lead the bomber to a secure room designed to contain explosives (but I may be expecting too…
I am not in any way claiming that he wasn’t an eccentric, or that alchemy wasn’t a hopeless pursuit given the knowledge of the time. But that has no bearing on the fact that Newton, especially, and most of his contemporaries would not have seen the pursuit of the laws of nature as distinguishable from religion in the…
