Def feels like this is really just a hot take. “The brakes are bigger.” comment makes me raise an eyebrow, as you definitely benefit from using brakes less due to regenerative braking... so I’m not sure how quant this all is. EVs also benefit from simpler maintenance schedules.

My hot take? I think EVs are probably

While that may be true, doesn’t an ICE car just continue to increase it’s carbon footprint over time? So ultimately isn’t there a net benefit in utilizing EVs instead of gasoline vehicles, or am I missing something?

Kind of. There’s more of a virtual “stage”. It’s more LinkedIn than twitter to me but maybe that’s just a product of who I follow. It’s also a bit strange because unlike twitter, it doesn’t benefit from asynchronous communication. If a room is happening and you are busy, you’ve missed it. So it definitely benefits

There are moderators of the room that can elevate listeners’ status, but only they have broadcasting permissions. It’s basically an panel discussion in a room. The thing is that you can start it up whenever you want, and you follow other people and can get notified when those that you follow have started a room. It

507 was the inspiration for the Z07 concept which led to the Z8. Just drop dead gorgeous... makes you wonder what the hell happened at BMW. I feel like a plastic surgeon got in the design group and is injecting everything w/ fillers and weird doodads these days. They look like caricatures of cars to me at this point.

I’d imagine they’re trying to side step all of this w/ xCloud. Why bother w/ specific hardware if xCloud can get up and running? A Surface w/ a good 5g or WiFi connection might suffice sooner than later. Also, then you don’t worry about the hardware competition game and can get the Xbox platform out and capture market

Coming in 2021, only on Disney+:

Agree. Gates sucks at his job, which is just to give money away. I think I could’ve at least dropped to double digits if I had his job. Start adding a 0 to each check, Bill! Do better.

I never thought I’d miss Chris Bangle...

The culture is propagated and maintained by the unions, which help insulate the cultural change despite some departments’ best efforts to do so. I’m all for organized labor and protecting workers, but police unions create a binary approach to policing that ultimately doesn’t serve the public good, nor is it actually

I have to think Ford’s investment in Rivian is not just a whim and they’ve committed to leveraging Rivian’s technology at some point. I can see them holding back in terms of timing so as not to cannibalize Rivian’s launch (as a major investor).

The idea of the spectrum is the right direction. We instinctively seek simple binary definitions when the reality is that disease can be spread from person to person “through the air” so to speak in increasing degrees.

The White House was built by slaves.

But that doesn’t change the fact that the semiotics carry cultural bias in today’s society. Experts explicitly uses this dichotomy to test for racial bias:

Is there an actual list published somewhere? I’d like to bring these to my organization.

The only way to validate this is to test the car... everything else is conjecture.

If people can’t even rationalize something like risking their health while socializing due to a pandemic, then how do we even think they’ll ever take action to prevent something that will happen as far as 2070?

I’m a firm believer in the science but it’s becoming so incredibly clear how completely screwed we are.

Range can compensate for charge time. If you had 1000 mile range, you would inevitably find quite a bit of available downtime of the car to charge it and keep it topped off. The ultimate would be to target the longest single day drives probably on the order of 700ish miles. You’d almost never be worried about recharge

Isn’t it well understood that anyone who quotes themselves shouldn’t be trusted?
