I set that clock about fifteen minutes fast in general, and then I set my alarm for 8 AM. Then it goes off, I lie around and bitch, and then turn on music and take a few minutes to wake up with sound. By the time 8 actually comes around, I’m ready to get dressed and ready and am out the door by 8:15.

Oh no, how long ago did you get it? I really want the mirena, but I’m nervous about the side effects.

It was context. She was mad at them for not letting her wear a very short, very revealing dress, so she wore a very revealing one-piece pant-suit with a plunging neckline and cut outs for the back and sides instead. It was a huge “fuck-you” to the administrators, not an expression of her personal identity.

Same. I have a friend who always freaks out about that, and it’s hard because I’m definitely heavier than her with not as nice style, but I get plenty.

Yeah any and all “Holocaust” comparisons actually made me gag. Are you freaking kidding me? Not only is that insulting to the model, it’s insulting to all of us who actually had family in the camps, not to mention frankly idiotic. You want horror? Fine, go look at those pictures. That’s not what she looks like.

I miss that “no numbers” rule. I’ve definitely seen people post weight, BMI, etc. There are ways to get around it, but I honestly believe those rules were important and useful.

It used to be. They changed the policies under Jessica. Pretty much anything goes now.

OK. You don’t have to. Without doxxing myself, one of my relatives is a very prominent lawyer for one of the major fashion houses. I know my shit. Also, they would never say “Saint Laurent.” It’s Yves Saint Laurent or YSL only.

The thing that’s most annoying about it is that the ad appears to have been banned because the lighting highlights body parts and throws shadows to make her appear even thinner than she is. And everyone is freaking about body-shaming and how horrible it is that she is being banned for being too thin, when it seems Read more

It is referred to as YSL within the industry...

Astoria! I will never stop singing Astoria’s praises. Great food, great bars, easy to get from the N/Q/R/M/E depending where in Astoria you live to any other subway line, great people. Also, great prices.

Oh god, I like them too much. I currently get Popsugar Must Have only, and love it, but I’ve gotten Julep (eventually just too much nail polish I can’t pick the colors of), Ipsy (meh), Birchbox (meh), Glossybox (too much skin care, skewed too old for me), Conscious Box (nope), and Nature Box (great if you have a hard Read more

Yeah, I agree. It’s too bad, because it’s a tradition dating back from the school’s founding in the 1800’s. They will most likely never abolish the tradition so long as the school remains single-sex.

I really can’t stand her. I hate read Dear Prudence when I’m at work late and bored, but some of her responses are just so privileged, obnoxious, and tone-deaf, that it actually makes me feel kind of ill.

Thank god it didn’t need to be long. A lot of girls did go long, I went pretty cheap knee length in something I could easily still wear to a summer event. Some of my friends actually bought wedding gowns, like from J. Crew bridal. That’s just fucking absurd.

Context is everything. See one of my replies below. This was not about looking like herself, and several other students were very upset that they had conformed against their own gender identity at the request of (beloved and respected) administrators/teachers while she had flagrantly come in something that was Read more

She did, she looked great. It was too bad that it was at the cost of very obviously thumbing her nose at our teachers and other classmates who would have loved the option to show up wearing what they wanted. It was also pretty revealing/sexy for a graduation. I mean, it was attractive, but definitely slightly more Read more

Oh, because she was just generally kind of a mean “so much cooler than everyone else around” person. She was mad that they hadn’t approved her other dress (yes, we had to have our dresses approved, which was ridiculous for sure), so she showed up in pants in flagrant disregard of the policy and tradition. Had she been Read more

Not weird, but definitely try and see if you can find anything without a broker! Brokers are awful. And look in the boroughs, if you can. I happen to be partial to Queens, and Astoria in particular, but that’s just what happens when you finally move out of your parents place (which is Manhattan).
