Aw, I actually liked Who's Minding the Store. It's a minor film to be sure - basically just a series of gags, some better than others - but it has its moments.

@TaumpyTearrs:disqus That someone was me! Shirley Maclaine is ridiculously adorable in that movie. Maclaine in the Bat Lady suit is like the original cosplay!

Is it overlooked? It seems to be the cinephile's choice because it's Lewis's most formally innovative film. Godard is particularly fond of it and brilliantly pinched the open-set idea for Tout va Bien.

I've been watching a lot of Lewis over the past year, and The Ladies Man was the first of his films I watched. It's definitely brilliantly directed, but I'm not sure it's the best gateway. Lewis's performance is at its shrillest; the plot is bizarrely disconnected; and the character is loaded with that maudlin

I definitely still want to see it. I just imagine I'm going to have a hard time feeling anything but contempt for David Siegel while I watch it.

I haven't seen The Queen of Versailles yet. Maybe I would have been more sympathetic to the Siegels if I'd seen the movie in the theater, but now I know David Siegel primarily as the guy who threatened his employees that he'd be "forced" to fire a bunch of them if they didn't vote for Romney. So … fuck that guy.

Well, I've fucked 'em all from Coast to Coast, cause honey, that's my bag.
Fact, I'm the only guy in the world who can make Linda Lovelace gag !

That song is about PORN? I always assumed the magazine was The New Republic!

I imagine Geoffrey Arend goes to a lot of meetings where executives tell him he could be the next Kevin Corrigan.
