+1 meep.

We know the artist

This is the year in which I get to smile at all of those naysayers. Every single mediocre insecure wannabe who fixes their mouth to suggest that I do not belong on this stage, that people like me cannot possibly have earned such an honor. And that when they win it’s meritocracy, but when we win it’s identity

GOOD PLACE!

Was looking through the nomination data, which is always fun. Discovered that 17776 was the 11th place nomination-getter for both the Novella and Graphic Story categories (it’s hard to categorize) which is cool because that was such an interesting and experimental bit of story telling, so I was happy to see it get

So many squees here. Nora Jemisin is a phenomenal writer and an amazing human being and deserved both her Hugo three-peat and her shining middle finger straight into Ted Beale’s face. All Systems Red is phenomenal, and I am salivating for more Murderbot. I loved Wonder Woman, even if I was kinda rooting for Thor:

I am incredibly grateful to Rebecca Sugar for Steven Universe - especially as a parent. She is doing something so amazing for children. As a straight mom I am so happy that my kids are able to have exposure to the show’s beautiful loving relationships of all kinds. And since their crew is so diverse I feel really good

This is elixir, for every time I read (some) comments on Charles’s representation articles.

Reminder: Gail Simone is also writing a Domino mini-series for Marvel, which is also awesome.

I’ve said this before around here, but I’ve read a lot of the articles and listened to the interview with Sugar that have been bubbling up in the extra publicity around the wedding and the upcoming movie. Interviewers generally talk to Sugar about how important it is for kids to see positive LGBTQ representation,

Rebecca Sugar has also created something very important for boys who perhaps don’t fit the mold of what’s expected of them in this culture. Steven is immensely powerful, but he uses that power to protect and improve instead of to attack; his first instinct is understanding and diplomacy, and he only fights as a last

Don’t stop writing about representation issues Jill because you’re right, the articles you and the rest of io9 write, whether it’s Charles’s article about the recent Voltron season or Beth’s article about Ruby Rose quitting twitter after being harassed, they bring these issues to light for many issues that may or may

Andre Braugher would be perfect. I can hear him in my head and I got the goosebumps.

Oooh, I’d have to disagree on Glover. He’s a great artist, but his monologuing...well, it could use some work. Braugher, on the other hand, is a wonderful pick! His clinical delivery wouldn’t be an echo of Serling, yet it will still achieve the same stage-setting.

Think Peele should give it a shot. Also: I’m still of the opinion the new TZ needs to be done in b&w.

Emulation is one thing. But he should be the presenter and we can just get over it.

Cloak and Dagger crossover, natch.

I love the music; that cemented things for me. Well, that and Old Lace of course.

Nice!  I liked this show more than I thought I would.

I’d like to see the Leapfrong, if they can swing the budget for it to look good.
