Hopefully this time the protag won’t be suffering from a debilitating illness. Brought the whole vibe down on HLD. Loved it otherwise, and pumped for this.

I personally love it, sans the lack of explanation for buff/debuff icons. I hate games with a minimap and a billion things on screen - I find myself staring at the map or icons more than looking at the beautifully designed game world. Which is also kind of funny to me because I love FFXIV... but I think about a game

Wholeheartedly agree with all of your comments. FromSoft games have a very specific charm to them that would be diluted by addressing the complaints raised by the OP.

Negative, ghostrider. Her original Japanese name was meant to be a portmanteau of “Air” and “Earth.” If you’re interested in coming down off your soapbox and getting educated, I’d recommend checking out Tim Rogers’ “Found in Translation” series on the original FF7. There are numerous pieces of evidence that indicate

Yeah, love this. I found an abandoned village full of turtles, and there were messages everywhere saying "could this be a dog?"

100% this. If you look around inside Night City's Afterlife, the tables are old morgue cabinets just pulled out of their cubbies with chairs put around them. Won't find that in Omega.

I blame whoever wrote the cringey lines for the specialists.  I can forgive the specialists. Seeing the success of Apex, recent CoD games, etc. all using the heroes motif in their competitive multiplayer shooters, it’s easy to see why EA and Dice went the specialist route. What is not easy to see, however, is how

Ah yes, I can feel the immersion now

You underestimate the power of Aerith/Tifa/Cloud/Barret/Sephiroth nude mods

I want to love this game so bad, but some glaringly obvious missing features (server browser for conquest, scope zeroing for sniper rifles, hardcore mode) and the absolute cringiness of the specialists is really putting a damper on my enjoyment.  I do love the maps, and the vehicles, and when I'm not hearing

I had a lot of fun fishing in FFXV, partially because of how much Noctis loved it.

I'll surely get roasted for the recommendation, but Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is a perfectly fun looter/shooter in the milsim vein.  Not for Ghost Recon fans, but if you've never played GR or only played Wildlands, it's a great time.  I recommend giving the normal mode a try before switching to ghost mode (normal mode

Hahaha I love it, bravo!

This game is such a gem.  I hope this update encourages more people to give it a shot.

But they’re a “true” fan!  Shinichiro Watanabe directed the original show just for them.  No one else was meant to view the sacred films, for no one else had the mental capacity to comprehend them.  Didn't you get the memo?

Amen

Hell yes, Outlaw Star fans unite.

I wish you would write for Kotaku.  Your thoughts are more coherent, readable, and important than half the stuff on here.

Yep, this. I’m in the camp that believes this broken hulk will never see a 1.0 release, but I also secretly (not so much after this comment) want it to come out someday and actually be good.
