@Chuck: Yeah, had I wanted to go even longer, I would have gotten into that. I think Amazon will make use of color photography now, which is really what's needed for cookbooks. And certainly Apple will be working on this too. Both have formats that support big color images.

@Ninety-9: No, you've got it wrong. Just because Apple uses the format doesn't mean their books are "universal." In fact, you can't read Apple's ePubs on other readers—a point I make in this piece. Don't be fooled!
